A bit different to the street doors we have had benched recently. But weigh the same...🫤💪🏼

Around 10+ years ago Dad and myself knocked up some "at the time temporary" ledge and brace redwood gates. After being painted once since being fitted, they wasn't really maintained as they should of been.

10 years on and it seems the temporary became permanent! Couldn't really bring myself to cut them up. So, with it being the boys first job on the family firm, thought it be fitting me and him revived the gates that myself and the old man once made. Specialists in Renovation I guess 😜

Off with the old posts header, replaced with a pressure treated bit of 7x2" with routed drips. The posts are hardwood and were solid, so they stayed.

All the rotten timber cut away, new replacement sections machined and spliced in to match existing. Screws left showing on the back...because why change the temporary look now? 👌🏼

Prepped and knotted then painted with a solvent based paint system. 1 coat of Sadolin Classic in Ebony on bare timber, followed by 2 coats of Sadolin Extra in Ebony, satin finish.

I wonder if the boy will have to repair them again in 10 years? Or best just get him to prep and paint them again in another 3 to 5 years I guess 😄

J. A. Pell & Son was in Leytonstone for a long standing client, carrying out this Exterior Renovation & Redecoration project.

This was once a project we completed around 8+ years ago where we fitted all new Fascia, soffits & guttering. With that being said the client invited us back for another full refresh of the front elevation.

Once we erected the scaffolding, we began the extensive preparation phase. We stripped all surfaces of loose material, thoroughly cleaned them, and prepared them for redecoration. We then primed, undercoated, and applied the top coat, achieving a flawless, high-quality finish.

Our team as always used the Dulux External Weathershield paint system throughout. The colours being a bespoke scan and mix for the blue timber sections and heritage Gardenia for the masonry work and door frame.

Many thanks to  Romford, the only supplier we use for all our paint, sundries and other decorating supplies!

We now attend this site monthly to maintain the weeds from growing etc. We offer these packages within our Property Maintenance services.

J. A. Pell & Son was recently in Leytonstone East London. This project was a basic front door and frame redecoration on the exterior faces.

The client was happy with the current hinges, locks and glazing setup. They just wanted to the exterior faces bought back up to a presentable standard. Because there were no hardware changes or upgrades, we didn’t need to remove the door for bench work and completed all work with the door still hung in situ.

All of the existing furniture was removed to allow for an extensive preparation process. Thereafter our team primed, undercoated and top coated both the door and frame to the clients desired colours. This project was finish with the Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior High Gloss paint system. The colours being a bespoke mix for the blue door and the frame finished in heritage Gardenia.

All of the existing locks were then cleaned and serviced. We then proceeded to polish and refit all the existing door furniture to finish up the project.

With this front door projects we can offer many upgrades to hinges, locks, furniture and glazing etc if required. However, if you just require a basic renovation or redecoration then this of course always an option we can cater for!

J. A. Pell & Son and the team carried out this External Window & Door Redecoration project in Leytonstone East London! The rear elevation consisted of several timber sash and casement windows. Along with a side door, a rear door and adjoining fixed glazed windows. A white masonry wall, plinth, window sills and reveals and black timber fascia.

The windows and doors on this rear elevation were all made good using a high quality resin repair system. Our team repaired the rear door then swung it on new 4″ brass roller hinges and secured it with new brass rack bolts. Salvaging the original door and deadbolt lock system.

Finished using a Dulux Trade paint system

Furthermore, each unit was first primed, then undercoated, and subsequently top-coated using the The Dulux Trade Weathershield paint system. The fascia was finished on if Black High Gloss. All timber doors and windows was finished off in Brilliant White High Gloss and the masonry was finished off in White Smooth Masonry.

J. A. Pell & Son 1986 to 2026 - Celebrating 40 Years!

A few random pictures in no particular order, just a few fond memories is all. There's many more but instagram will only let me bore you with 20 of them 🤣 Dare I day I'm sure you all have your own memories of Dad 😆🤣

As of yesterday (We'll go with that date, 13th of March) marks 40 years Dad started out by himself on his journey in property renovation. I was never sure the exact date he started, but he did tell me it was a simpler time back in 1986!

Yesterday also marks the day we lost Dad 3 years ago! 3 years and many jobs later I do miss the arguing on what is the best way to do the job at hand just to get to the same conclusion and agree anyways 😄. Dad had a lifetime of experience with the confidence to get on the tools and back it up, but sometimes I won.

Thanks to everybody who has been with me on projects past, present and future. I really do appreciate you all! A privilege to work along side you all. Dad would love coming to work for a good crack, he admired you all.

And a thank you to all our clients. Some going back the 40 years! A pleasure to work with you all!

40 years of legacy to keep going. So we best get cracking! Onwards and upwards 💪🏼🥰

Quick tip: Easiest way to remove a piece of single panel glazing which has been installed with traditional linseed oil putty.

No hacking out....no banging...no damaging surrounding units or the rebate. 4" grinder and 3mm disc. Cuts straight through the putty and retaining pins no bother. If you touch the glass, also not an issue.

No damage is the key! And the smell is amazing 🥰

J. A. Pell & Son carried out this unique staircase spindle repair & bespoke replacement project in Leytonstone, East London.

Over the years, the original staircase suffered damage, leading to several missing or broken spindles, along with other damaged mouldings and trims.

Our team supplied and installed new bespoke staircase spindles that matched the existing ones perfectly. We also repaired any damaged mouldings and trims, leaving the staircase ready for preparation and decoration at a later date.

Our team can offer many different services to renovate and bring your old staircase back to it’s original glory. A traditional front door refurbishment & renovation project carried out in Leytonstone, East London by our team at J. A. Pell & Son.

Our team finished the front door and frame with a Dulux Trade paint system, both inside and out. Inside, they finished with Dulux Trade Satinwood in Bleached Lichen 4. Outside, they used Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior High Gloss in Brilliant White and Buckingham Green. Both solvent based products for a superior and durable finish. Using Hamilton Perfection Brushes 👌🏼

The front door was refitted in a traditional manor complete with all new Brass door furniture & hardware. This included: A pair and half of 4″ Grade 13 Ball Bearing Hinges, ERA ‘British Standard’ High Security Night Latch, ERA ‘British Standard’ 5 Lever Fortress Deadlock, ERA Door Chain, traditional size Victorian Letter Plate/Letterbox and a period style door knocker. Our team managed to restore and renovate the original brass step/threshold plate, leaving some character for good measure.
