Part 1- D-Day at Lancaster Grove.
The truck is loaded, the lifting system is ready the staircase have arrived on site.
Six sections. Three flights. One continuous sculptural

A lot of design, fabrication and logistical planning has gone into reaching this point. Now it is time to bring the three flights together and start revealing the final form.

More to come as the structure is lifted into position.

*A curve is never decided in isolation*
We have to find a point where the curves feel generous while keeping everything consistent.👌

A feature staircase has to work in tandem with it’s surround.

Each adjustment that we make needs to work as a whole. This means that we’re able to balance the aesthetic and the design feasibility.
Ultimately the aim is for the staircase to feel fluid and consistent throughout..

If the staircase is thought from an early stage, every single decision made allows us to achieve the best results.

That is why we translate the architect’s drawings into a 3D model this early.
We Believe a feature staircase is designed around a building.

Work it through from the start and every decision after it gets easier And this is a process that we prefer to undertake at a very early stage, which we highly recommend to most of our clients.

That sense of flow comes from working through each design process and each
design stage while keeping in mind the bigger picture.

Thanks to Team

A behind-the-scenes look at our latest helical staircase taking shape in the workshop.

Rolled stringers, fabricated steel treads and careful assembly are bringing the design to life. At this stage, precision is everything. Both curves must align perfectly to create one continuous, flowing form.

More progress to follow as the staircase comes together.
Big to the team doing that they do best

A curve is never decided in isolation.
When you look at a finished staircase, you see the curves flowing from one floor to the next.
What you don’t see is the work behind, the conversations, the adjustments, the decisions that got it there.
These are decisions that are difficult to spot but they are the difference between a staircase that sits in a building and one that belongs to it.
A staircase is designed around a building. Work it through early and every decision after it gets easier.

Install balustrade in the making🙌
A detail can look incredibly simple once it’s finished.
Getting it there is the interesting part.

Designing the finished piece is one thing. Designing how it comes together is another.

Behind these balustrade panels is a lot of thinking about how the design translates from drawing, to fabrication, to site.

* How do we break a continuous design into sections that can actually be manufactured and transported?
* How do we deal with site tolerances?
* How do we give the installation team enough adjustment to bring everything back together exactly as intended?

These are the conversations happening behind the scenes long before anything arrives on site.
For us, that’s where good detailing really matters.

This is the part we love, seeing it all come together on site.👌

These balustrade panels are manufactured as individual sections, but once installed, the aim is for them to read as one continuous piece.

A lot of thought goes into how each section is installed, giving our team the adjustment needed on site to level, align and bring
everything together perfectly.

For us, value engineering is about more than cost. It’s thinking through the entire process, from design and manufacture to
tolerances, handling and installation.

Often, the best details are the ones you don’t notice once everything is finished.

Designed for a perfect fit.

Every great detail starts with an invisible one.

Before the staircase could be installed, we created a temporary guide to replicate the future circular lift shaft. This allows us to control the relationship between the stair and the void, ensuring the helix maintains a perfectly consistent offset throughout all three floors.

The temporary jig may disappear, but the precision it creates will remain.

It’s the unseen craftsmanship behind the scenes that allows the architecture to feel effortless once complete

Stay tuned, there’s plenty more to come.
