Congratulations to Sean McManamon, Trainee Building Services Engineer
We are proud to congratulate on his fantastic achievement awarded by the City of Westminster College Student Awards 2026.
Sean was recognised as Learner of the Year, receiving Highly Commended for his outstanding achievement and progress within Engineering, Construction & the Built Environment.
This recognition is a brilliant reflection of Sean’s hard work, commitment and dedication to developing his skills within the industry. It is always a pleasure to see talent, determination and a strong work ethic celebrated, and everyone at Gloster is delighted to share in this proud moment.

Yesterday, our intrepid and remarkably determined riders completed approximately 55 miles, marking another significant stage in their journey.

Along the route, they paused at Hill 60, a place of profound historical importance and reflection. The stop provided a sobering moment for the group, offering time to consider the scale of sacrifice, hardship and courage shown by those who fought there during the First World War.

Later that evening, the riders gathered at the Menin Gate in Ypres, one of the most powerful memorials to the missing of the First World War. Dedicated to British and Commonwealth soldiers who lost their lives in the Ypres Salient and whose graves are unknown, the memorial bears the names of more than 54,000 officers and men.

After a long day in the saddle, standing beneath the Menin Gate brought the purpose of the ride sharply into focus. The miles covered, the physical effort and the fatigue of the day were placed into perspective by the names surrounding them — each one representing a life lost, a family changed forever, and a sacrifice that must never be forgotten. What an inspiring tribute!

It was a day defined not only by endurance and teamwork, but also by remembrance, respect and gratitude. Our riders should be incredibly proud of what they achieved, both in distance covered and in the dignity with which they honoured those who gave so much.

Today our team the Gloster Gladiators together with hundreds of other cyclists attending the @ Help For Heroes Battlefield Bike Ride Community ride visited Hill 60, one of the most powerful and thought-provoking sites of the Ypres Salient.

Sitting around 60 metres above sea level and roughly 5 km south-east of Ypres, Hill 60 was not a natural hill but man-made high ground formed from railway cutting spoil in the 1850s. Its height gave it real tactical importance during the First World War, as it offered observation over the surrounding battlefield.

During the war, this ground was fiercely contested by German and Allied forces, including French and British troops at different stages of the fighting. The closeness of the front lines is stated at roughly 4 metres apart. In some areas of the Ypres Salient, opposing positions were close enough for soldiers to hear one another — a reminder of how personal, immediate and brutal trench warfare could be.

Standing there as a team was a humbling experience. It brought home not only the scale of the conflict, but also the courage, endurance and sacrifice of those who served in such unimaginable conditions.

On Monday 8 June, Colin Aldridge Labour and Devlopment Manager, Billy Histead and Tommy Cowies from Gloster MEP were invited to attend the JTL Plumbing Reception at the House of Commons: "Plugging the Skills Gap: The Future Plumbing Workforce".
The reception brought together parliamentarians, government departmental staff, industry representatives, employers and apprentices to discuss the challenges facing plumbing apprenticeships and the importance of strengthening the skills pipeline for building services.
Billy and Tommy took part in valuable conversations with government departmental staff and JTL CEO Chris Clayden, sharing their experiences of apprenticeship training and the practical challenges apprentices and employers can encounter, with concerns around plumbing apprenticeship uptake and completions, it was an important opportunity to highlight how vital high-quality training is to the future of the trade and to the homes and infrastructure that will depend on skilled operatives.
Both apprentices represented themselves and Gloster MEP with real vigour and professionalism. We were proud to see them contribute to such an important industry discussion.

We are proud to be yet again supporting this year’s Big Battlefield Bike Ride, marking the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of Somme, with our team the Gloster Gladiators.
From 23–28 June 2026, the team will be taking on this incredible challenge to raise vital funds for Help for Heroes and support those who have served, cycling over 250 miles from Ypres to the Thiepval Memorial in Northern France.
