This stunning Mercedes-Benz 300SL R107 needed some dry ice attention while it was at Historic Motorworks for mechanical work, and what a privilege it was to be involved.

After dry ice blasting the gearbox earlier, we were back to restore the engine bay to a factory-fresh finish without damaging any original components. It's always satisfying revealing the detail that's been hidden under years of dirt and grime.

Historic Motorworks are specialists for classic car restoration and maintenance. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship are second to none, so it was great to work alongside them on such an iconic car.

As for the car itself... there's honestly very little left that could make it any better. An absolutely beautiful example, and a real credit to its owner for maintaining it to such an incredible standard.

Following on from the DeLorean engine, the gearbox had the dry ice treatment too.

Much like the engine, this had been spray-canned silver straight over years of built-up oil, dirt and grime.

Dry ice blasting safely stripped away the poor paintwork and contamination, revealing the original finish underneath.

Not every restoration starts with shiny new parts... sometimes it starts with undoing years of neglect.

This DeLorean engine had seen better days. It was buried under years of grease and grime, and at some point had been given a quick silver spray-can makeover that did nothing to do it justice.

Using dry ice blasting, I was able to safely remove all the dirt, oil and old paint, revealing the original finish underneath and bringing this iconic engine back to life. It's not about making it look brand new—it's about preserving as much originality as possible while giving it the clean foundation it deserves.

Now it's ready for the final detailing before the engine components and gearbox are bolted back on.

The gearbox has also been dry ice blasted and came up just as well... photos of that transformation coming soon! 👀

This Mercedes-Benz R107 300SL gearbox had built up years of oil, grease and road grime, and dry ice blasting removed it all without damaging the original finish and hardware, revealing the gearbox underneath.

The owner has put an incredible amount of time, effort and money into restoring this car, and it truly shows. It's an amazing example of a classic Mercedes, and we're proud that our work could play a small part in taking it to the next level.

A slightly different job this week, graffiti removal job completed using dry ice blasting.

A recent job on the rear axle assembly of a Series 2 Jaguar E-Type.

Using dry ice blasting, I was able to safely remove years of dirt, grease and contamination without damaging the original components or forcing abrasive media into bearings, seals and tight areas.

Fire damage restoration carried out in Royston Cambridgeshire using dry ice blasting.
This property had heavy soot staining and contamination to the external brickwork following a fire. We used dry ice blasting to safely remove the carbon deposits without damaging the brick face or mortar joints.
