When did you last switch your heating on?

If you haven't already, it's worth turning your heating on for a short test run before autumn and the colder weather arrives. Check that your boiler starts properly, your radiators heat up and there are no unusual noises, smells or warning lights.

Finding an issue now gives you more time to have it checked before you really need your heating. It is also a good opportunity to check your heating oil level and make sure you have enough in the tank for the months ahead.

A quick stop in front of the Forth Bridge, one of Scotland’s greatest man made structures.

This is an older one from our archives, but it’s always a proud moment to look up at the now UNESCO World Heritage Site. Opened over 135 years ago in 1890, the bridge was built using around 54,000 tonnes of mild steel to span 2,529 metres across the River Forth. A truly amazing piece of engineering.
