A huge well done to Beth Flintham from our Northern Region, who recently took on the Cheshire 5K Inflatable at Cheshire Showground, tackling a huge range of giant inflatable obstacles, slides and tunnels raising £800 for our Group charity partner, Lighthouse Charity in memory of her mum who passed away earlier this year.

For Beth, this challenge was about much more than crossing the finish line and Lighthouse Charity holds a special place in her heart, having provided invaluable support to her and her family. By taking on this fun but challenging event, Beth has helped raise awareness and funds for a charity that supports the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families during some of life's most difficult moments.

We're incredibly proud of Beth for her courage, determination and commitment to giving back to a charity that has made such a difference to her family. Well done, Beth, and thank you for supporting Lighthouse Charity.

🏫 PROJECT SECURED 🏫

Briggs & Forrester Special Projects is pleased to announce the successful award of a refurbishment contract at King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy, further strengthening its expanding portfolio of principal contractor-led works.

The project has been commissioned by the King Edward VI Academy Trust, with Ridge appointed as Project Manager. The scheme is scheduled for delivery over an 8-week programme.

The works will involve a comprehensive upgrade to the school’s mechanical services infrastructure, including:
⚙️ Replacement of five DX heating and cooling rooftop air handling units
⚙️ Replacement of two existing VRV heat-recovery three-pipe air conditioning systems
⚙️ Installation of new outdoor units, internal fan coil units & branch selector units
⚙️ Deployment of new room controllers and a central control system to enhance operational efficiency and user control

This investment will significantly improve environmental comfort, system performance, and energy efficiency across the facility.

This secured project represents a notable milestone for the Special Projects division, aligning with the business’s strategic objective to:
✅ Increase delivery of principal contractor-led projects
✅ Expand geographical reach across key regions
✅ Strengthen its position within the education sector refurbishment market

🎉 50 YEARS OF CYNTHIA SPENCER 🎉

Briggs & Forrester Special Projects are delighted to be supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice as they celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.

Our relationship with Cynthia Spencer is one we are incredibly proud of. Last year, we worked closely with the team to deliver a refurbishment of hospice wards across Northamptonshire, helping to create refreshed and welcoming spaces for patients, families and staff.

Beyond our project work, our team has been committed to supporting the charity's vital services through a range of fundraising activities, including a sponsored abseil down Northampton Water Tower, raffles, bake sales and other initiatives.

We are also honoured to be attending and supporting Cynthia Spencer's 50th Anniversary Black Tie Gala at Sywell Aerodrome this October, joining supporters, partners and the wider community in celebrating five decades of outstanding care, compassion and support across Northamptonshire.

Congratulations to Valeriu Pen*soara from Falcon Fire, for winning this month’s Health & Safety Operative Award at St Johns Wood Square. Falcon Fire are currently contracted to the sprinkler works by Briggs & Forrester Living.

Valeriu has been recognised for his calm and professional approach, his commitment to taking health and safety seriously, consistently wearing the correct PPE, and maintaining an exceptionally tidy work area. He has also demonstrated outstanding efficiency, achieving a high number of quality handovers while maintaining excellent standards throughout.

✈️ LLA'S HANGAR 9 TAKES OFF ✈️

Briggs & Forrester Special Projects were pleased to contribute to the successful delivery of London Luton Airport’s (LLA) first Consolidation Centre at Hangar 9, supporting Neville Special Projects with the M&E installation for this landmark refurbishment project.

Working within a live airport environment, our team delivered a comprehensive mechanical and electrical package to support the transformation of the facility, helping to create a modern, efficient and operationally resilient space for LLA and GXO Logistics.

The completed scheme has enhanced the building’s functionality, security and energy performance, while supporting the airport’s evolving operational requirements and extending the lifespan of the existing asset.

Projects of this nature demand close collaboration, careful planning and a strong focus on safety and quality. We are proud to have worked alongside Neville Special Projects and LLA’s wider project team to successfully deliver the M&E elements of the refurbishment with minimal disruption to the airport’s ongoing operations.

This project is another example of our expertise in delivering complex M&E installations within live, operational environments, and we would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment, professionalism and teamwork throughout the project.

📐 FROM PLANNING TO COMPLETION 📐

A few months ago, we shared how Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services Midlands Technical Trainees were taking the lead on two community volunteering projects. We're now delighted to share the completed refurbishment works at Royal Star & Garter Care Home in Solihull.

Working together, our trainees helped spruce up the home's gardens and outdoor recreation areas, creating improved spaces where residents can relax, socialise and enjoy the outdoors. Royal Star & Garter provides specialist nursing and dementia care for veterans and their relatives, making this project particularly meaningful for everyone involved.

This project would not have been possible without the incredible support and generosity of our supply chain partners, who donated materials and supplies to help bring these improvements to life, not only at Royal Star & Garter but also at Forest Oak School.

⚡CRITICAL POWER INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADE DELIVERED⚡

Acting in the role of Principal Contractor, Briggs & Forrester Special Projects are pleased to confirm the successful delivery of a new standby generator, together with associated low-voltage (LV) switchgear and electrical infrastructure, at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights Campus.

In collaboration with our supply chain partners YorPower Generators and Underwoods, the project was carefully designed to ensure continuity of power supply to critical services in the event of a site-wide outage. The upgraded infrastructure will provide resilient backup power to key departments including Health & Life Sciences, Mathematics, and Digital Technology Services, safeguarding essential research, teaching, and operational activities.

Briggs & Forrester Special Projects delivered the full scope of works drawing on their extensive experience in complex electrical infrastructure and critical systems installations within live environments.

Briggs & Forrester Living specialises in delivering projects across the residential, hotel, student accommodation and later living sectors, bringing together innovation, collaboration and a commitment to a net zero future.

A key part of our approach is our in-house off-site manufacturing facility, where we pre-fabricate modules such as utility cupboards, risers, metering modules and floor plate modules before they reach site.

By manufacturing these elements in a controlled environment, we can enhance quality, reduce waste and improve programme certainty, while minimising labour requirements and disruption on our clients’ sites.
