Great news for construction apprenticeships

's New Entrant Support Team (NEST) helped nearly 6,000 apprentices start their careers in construction in 2025-26 - a 43% rise on the previous year. The industry will need over 47,000 additional workers every year to meet demand by 2029.

A robot called Douglas just started work on a UK construction site

Scaffmag reported that Tilbury Douglas deployed a humanoid robot named Douglas to handle site reporting, 360 imagery and H&S monitoring. It's claimed to save 40 hours of staff time a month. They say it's a UK first for a tier one contractor.

Tom White joined CJB at the start of the year as a Scaffolding Apprentice, so a few months in, we have caught up with him on his experience so far, including what he's learnt and some of the most surprising things about his Scaffolding Apprenticeship.

David brings extensive expertise, from building rigs as an apprentice to managing scaffolding operations for companies such as British Sugar. His Oil & Gas background and management experience at Altrad and Emcor perfectly align with our high CJB standards.

Today is the first global day recognised by the International Access & Scaffolding Association, with the theme: Recognising the industry, supporting its people, and shaping its future.

Encouraging signs for social housing🏘️

New figures from Glenigan show social housing construction is set to grow 6% this year and a further 12% in 2027, with nearly 1,400 schemes due to start in the next 12 months, and 11 major projects worth £2.1bn already in the Top 100.

✨New Project: Old Trowse Primary School ✨

Client: NCL Contractors

Conversion of Old Trowse Primary School into apartments and bungalows.

🔵Phase 1: External CJB wrapped the exterior of the building with a full scaffold, providing access around the outside for roofing works, including access to the underside of the roof. The building has a great deal of character, and the wrap reflects the structure's complexity.

🔵Phase 2: Internal (Upcoming) CJB will be moving inside to support the internal conversion works.
