Contract Announcement: Deptford, London 🏠

We’re thrilled to announce our latest project involving the full external refurbishment of residential properties in Deptford, London. 🎉

Scope of Works:

🔹 Complete removal of existing white render to all elevations, taken back to blockwork
🔹 Installation of a new high-performance silicone render system
🔹 Careful removal and reinstallation of all external windows and doors
🔹 Replacement of window sills
🔹 Ensuring all window installations meet current manufacturer specifications

Contract Announcement: Brompton Road, Knightsbridge 👷

We’re pleased to announce the commencement of our latest project on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, adjacent to the iconic Harrods.

The works involve the er****on of a scaffold on the pavement and the delivery of lead, slate tiling, and flat roofing works to replace the existing roof coverings.

Given the location on one of London’s busiest and most high-profile streets, temporary works present a key challenge. Scaffold access is required over active retail units, on a red route and next to a bus stop, demanding meticulous planning and coordination.

Success on this project is driven by clear communication with all stakeholders, including the client, our roofing teams and neighbouring retailers. This is underpinned by detailed and well-considered temporary works design, ensuring clarity and alignment from the outset.

Our focus is to deliver a safe, compliant, and well-presented scaffold installation, complete with hoarding and temporary lighting, enabling efficient access for high-quality roofing works that will stand the test of time.

Contract Announcement! 🎉

We’re delighted to announce our latest contract win in Oxford.

This project involves delivering remedial works across multiple residential properties for a long-standing client. Works will include piled raft foundations and superstructure construction to several houses and garages, alongside full internal strip-out, groundworks, drainage, M&E coordination, and reinstatement and finishing works.

We look forward to progressing this project and delivering a successful outcome, in full compliance with all relevant building standards, regulations, and quality requirements.

As the week comes to a close, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone we had the opportunity to meet throughout the week.

Now working for us as a Site Manager, Tom’s dedication and hard work truly reflect what Swainlands stands for.

We recently caught up with Tom to discuss his journey with Swainlands, offering insightful reflections on his career progression, as well as talking about life beyond the company.

🔻You’ve been with Swainlands for 4 decades – what originally attracted you to the business, and how has it supported your development as a Site Manager?

“When you say it like that, it sounds like a long time - but it has actually flown by. Carpentry has always been an interest of mine, starting in secondary school. Securing an apprenticeship with a building company in North London confirmed that I wanted a career that was long-lasting, interesting, and adaptable.

Being able to learn a wide range of skills and put them into practice has given me a strong understanding of how a building project comes together. That foundation has helped me transition into site management without too much upheaval.

It’s still early days in this role, so my development is very much ongoing.”

Swainlands Celebrate Outstanding Achievement at RICS 👏🎉

Last week, the Swainlands Construction team attended a special Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) event in celebration of Rhys Hawkins-Poulter, who was nominated by Anglia Ruskin University and proudly awarded the Outstanding Apprentice Award in recognition of National Apprenticeship Week.

Rhys began his journey with Swainlands in 2019 during his first year of college. We were delighted to support his development, providing both the training and funding for him to pursue an RICS-accredited degree in Quantity Surveying at Anglia Ruskin University.

Now a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor, Rhys’ dedication, commitment and work ethic exemplify the values we uphold.

Great progress following our latest monthly meeting on this complex remedial works project. Facades, steel replacement, cladding, roofing and rendering are all progressing safely and professionally.
