Stripping it right back in Whitstable π¨
Our latest refurb project is well underway, and the first big job has been taking the house back to its bones, removing the old lath and plaster throughout and prepping every room for its full transformation.
So why strip it all out? Lath and plaster, thin wooden strips nailed to the joists and covered with multiple coats of plaster, was the standard wall and ceiling finish long before plasterboard came along. While it adds bags of character, over time it's prone to cracking, sagging, crumbling and pulling away from the laths, especially in older properties.
Stripping it back gives us a clean, solid base to work from, making way for modern insulation, updated wiring and a flawless finish that will stand the test of time.
This is where the magic starts. Plenty more progress to come, so watch this space.
