On the Tools with our Kelso based engineer, Iain Livingstone. His challenge was to replace a cultivator's badly worn bushes - pics show the repair journey:
1st pic shows the wing of the cultivator - there are two attached to the main body of the cultivator and used to lift the rollers and tines to a vertical position ready for travelling.
2nd pic shows badly worn bushes where they are attached to the main body of the cultivator.
3rd pic shows the old bushes being removed.
4th pic As the old bushes were welded in place they were extremely difficult to remove. So, the customer asked if we could make smaller bushes to fit inside the new bushes, so that if they should wear, they could be much more easily replaced.
5th and 6th pics show the new bushes welded in place with the inner bushes pressed in.
7th, 8th, 9th pic show everything built back up and the rollers and the tines being lifted by the tractor's hydraulics. Job done!!!

Today in the Meet the McArthur BDC Team series, we are focusing on Dr Rheinallt (Reg) Jones, our Research and Technical Lead, who joined us at the beginning of the year. Based in Glasgow he works remotely with regular visits to our Scunthorpe office.

Working within our feed protein team, Reg coordinates and delivers research into the BritPulse projects which will enable the animal feed industry to incorporate home-grown beans into feed rations, with confidence.

Reg’s work includes delivering our involvement in the Nitrogen Climate Smart (NCS) and coordinating the InFaba -homegrown protein for resilient feed systems - projects.

As a lecturer and researcher in Animal Nutrition, Reg splits his time between us and the University of Glasgow.

One thing not many people know about Reg, is that he has deep fear of dry sponges – apparently, it’s the texture!

Today the focus in our ‘Meet the McArthur BDC Team’ is a new member of our Technician team, Brad Arnold. Based at our Scunthorpe depot, Brad joined us in February.

His training over the last seven months has focused on the servicing of our Mecmar and Svegma driers. Brad has also been developing the necessary skills to carry out repairs to the driers, as well as those necessary to build them in our depot and then install them on site.

So, you may well have met Brad when he has been on farm!

A couple of things not many people know about Brad is that he is very good at animal impressions – his best being that of a cow or a sheep! In addition, he enjoys gamekeeping for a local farm shoot
