A conservatory should not be a room you shut off for half the year.

For Mr & Mrs Wyatt, their old polycarbonate roof had made the space far less comfortable, especially through the colder months. Replacing it with an insulated Smart-Roof conversion has completely changed how the room feels, turning it into a brighter, more inviting space they can enjoy throughout the year.

One of the biggest surprises was how much natural light the room still keeps. Even without the originally planned roof windows, the finished conservatory remained much brighter than expected.

The feedback for the team was excellent throughout, with particular praise for the professionalism, punctuality and workmanship on site.

If you are looking to make your conservatory warmer, more comfortable and more usable, a roof upgrade can make all the difference.

“It's what I wanted in my head.”

That's how Lucy described her new garden room, recently completed by Shire Conservatories.

Lucy wanted something contemporary that felt like a proper extension of her home, rather than a traditional conservatory.

Working from her ideas, we created a beautiful new space featuring a slate-effect insulated roof, a fixed roof window, underfloor heating and herringbone flooring.

Lucy was particularly complimentary about the workmanship, communication and how closely the project followed the original schedule.

What started as an idea for some extra dining space has become a room that has genuinely changed how she uses her home.

It's always rewarding when the finished result matches exactly what a customer had imagined.

New windows. Same character.

Replacing your windows shouldn't mean losing the features that made you choose your home.

The shape of a bay, the frame proportions and the way the openings line up all affect the finished look. Those details deserve as much attention as the colour.

This completed Shire installation shows a white bay window with decorative detailing above the frame, set into a red-brick frontage.

For homeowners in Shropshire and Mid Wales, the starting point is your own property and the details you want to keep. At Shire Conservatories, we can talk through window styles that suit your home before you make a decision.

Not every conservatory roof is suitable for tiles, and getting it wrong can be costly.

Mr & Mrs Gibbs experienced this firsthand when a previous replacement roof developed persistent leaks because the pitch wasn't suitable for the tiles installed.

After several unsuccessful attempts to resolve the problem, they contacted Shire Conservatories following a neighbour's recommendation.

We recommended an insulated RubberBond EPDM Smart Roof, specifically suited to their low-pitch conservatory.

Knowing the existing roof was leaking, Gavin also arranged temporary weather protection within days, keeping the conservatory protected until the replacement could be installed.

Ruth kept everything moving, and Brian and Jack have now completed the new roof.

It's a great example of why choosing the right roof system matters just as much as the quality of the installation.

Sometimes replacing the roof is just the beginning.

This recently completed project involved much more than a standard conservatory roof conversion.

Alongside installing a new insulated tiled roof, Shire Conservatories also carried out flat roof replacements, fitted new uPVC windows and doors, made alterations to the cloakroom and completed the associated building and finishing work.

By bringing everything together into one project, we were able to make several improvements to the property while creating a more comfortable and practical living space for the homeowners.

The video shows the finished result and how all the different elements have come together.

From conservatory to a room that's properly part of the home.

Mr & Mrs Evanson's existing conservatory had a traditional polycarbonate roof, but they wanted to turn the space into somewhere they could enjoy far more often.

The transformation to a double-hip SupaLite tiled roof, complete with a fully plastered internal ceiling, has completely changed how the room looks and feels.

Once decorated, it will become their new reading and TV room, creating another comfortable living space to enjoy as part of their home.

For us, that's what a good conservatory transformation should achieve. It isn't simply about replacing a roof. It's about making much better use of space you already have.
