🏗️ PROJECT WOODROW — NEARING THE FINISH LINE

As we come close to completing Project Woodrow, we’ve had a chance to reflect on just how far this project has come.

We took over this build after the clients had unfortunately experienced problems with two previous builders. They were left with an extension that had no proper drainage, different floor levels, numerous construction issues, and a significant amount of money already spent.

That’s where JCS Carpentry & Construction Ltd stepped in.

For the past three months, the team has been pushing this project forward while also undoing and correcting many of the issues that had been left behind.

Behind the scenes, there has been a huge amount of work — structural engineers, surveyors, Building Control, inspections, problem solving and plenty of planning to make sure everything was brought up to the standard it should have been from the start.

And now… we’re nearly there. 👊

The results speak for themselves.

As a team and a company, we’re incredibly proud to be reaching the finish line on this one. More importantly, these clients deserve to finally have the home and extension they originally set out to achieve.

Even the patio has now been completely rectified and is looking incredible. 🔥

There’s still some finishing paintwork and rendering to complete, and once everything is finished we’ll be sharing the full set of updated photos.

Project Woodrow has been a journey — but what a transformation.

The teams have been flat out across multiple sites, keeping projects moving, pushing for progress and getting the finishes over the line. 💪

Plenty completed, plenty progressing, and even more lined up! 👀🏗️

🚨 WARNING ALERT — WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK SO FAR 🚨

We recently inspected a patio for a client and, unfortunately, the work we uncovered was completed to a terrible standard. 🤦‍♂️

❌ Slabs laid with little to no proper binding
❌ Areas of sub-base only 10mm deep
❌ Ground not properly compacted
❌ Beds of muck in places nearly 6 inches thick 🤯

With the ground moving underneath, it was only a matter of time before the patio started to split and fail.

But here’s the important bit…

We haven’t walked away. We simply said: “We’ll fix it.”

So that’s exactly what we’re doing — ripping out what needs to come out and rebuilding this patio the way it should have been done in the first place.

And yes… we’ve GIVEN this job around 3 tonnes of stone and 2 tonnes of sand at our own cost.

Why?

Because sometimes doing the right thing outweighs walking away. That’s how I believe a business should be run. 👊

JCS Carpentry & Construction Ltd are looking for an experienced, reliable Carpenter to join our team on a self-employed basis.

We have full-time, ongoing work available across a range of construction and renovation projects.

Requirements:

* Experienced carpenter
* Must have a full driving licence
* Own tools
* Good standard of workmanship
* Strong work ethic and reliability
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Must work well with clients and other trades
* Take pride in your work and keep sites tidy

Position:

Self-Employed – CIS deducted
Full-time / ongoing work
Rates dependent on experience and ability
Company van can be provided for the right candidate

We’re looking for someone who wants consistent work and can become a reliable part of the team.

WEEKLY UPDATE 🚀🔨

Another big week across the JCS— plenty moving forward and some serious transformations starting to take shape.

📍 Frome
Built up to DPC and now ready for the oversite ground-bearing slab and structural steels. This project is really starting to take shape — next stage is going to make a huge difference. 🧱

📍 Trowbridge – Kitchen Renovation
This one is very much on its way to becoming an absolute monster of a kitchen fit. 🔥
Plenty happening behind the scenes and we can’t wait to see the finished result.

📍 Bradford-on-Avon
Old lath and plaster ceiling removed, completely re-boarded and levelled out ready for the next stages.
We’ve also sorted a new hot water feed to the kitchen. Another one moving nicely. 👌

📍 Melksham
The full second fix is well underway, with the kitchen dry fit progressing nicely. It’s all coming together lovely and we’re getting closer to the finish line.

Another solid week from the team. Multiple projects, multiple stages, and plenty more coming up.

Another busy week on site the teams are making serious progress.

The footings are now complete, setting the foundations for what is going to be an incredible build.

Next week we’ll be building up to DPC, followed by the oversite preparation and ground floor slab. Then comes one of the biggest milestones—the structural steel arrives, and this project will really start taking shape.

Every stage brings us one step closer, and we can’t wait to show you the transformation from the ground up.

🚀 From Garage to Stunning Drying Room!

This garage has had a complete transformation, turning an unused space into a warm, functional drying room that’s built for everyday life.

The insulation, plastering, bespoke finishes and attention to detail have completely changed the feel of this space—and those colours… they look incredible. 👌

It’s always rewarding seeing a project come together from start to finish, delivering another practical space our client can enjoy for years to come.

Driveway Complete ✅

What a transformation! Check out the before and after photos..

🔨 Here’s what went into it:

✅Removed over 20 tonnes of existing ground.
✅Installed 18 tonnes of MOT Type 1, compacted in layers to create a solid, long-lasting sub-base.
✅Laid 9 tonnes of sharp sand to achieve the perfect finish.
✅ Installed a soakaway to manage surface water and improve drainage.
✅Extended the pathway from the driveway to the rear gate for easier access.
✅ Added a low-level access ramp, helping to future-proof the property.
✅ Finished patio with ash grey grout, tying the whole project together beautifully.

✅Topped of with top soil to bring the levels where they need to be

A quality driveway starts with what’s underneath, and we’ve made sure this one has the foundations to stand the test of time.

A fantastic project from start to finish, and one the whole team really enjoyed delivering. The finished result speaks for itself.

A few weeks’ worth of updates… because we’ve been that busy.

We’ve been flat out like a badger on the side of the road! 🤣

📍 Westbury – Kitchen plastered and ready for the fit tomorrow.

📍 Edington – Garage conversion is ready to become a drying room, with insulation going in tomorrow.

📍 Mere – 50m² of block paving and 20 linear metres of slab work completed. Just grouting and a final clean left to do.

📍 Frome – Temporary soil repair completed before we break ground on another exciting project.

📍 Keevil – Roof repair completed and another happy client.

📍 Bath – Chimney stack removed and structural steel installed.

📍 Pewsham – We’ve stepped in to rescue a project after the client was let down.

📍 Holt – Another new project kicking off soon.
