This week’s goes to the amazing Sandwichgirls. Hopefully by now most people in Weymouth know about this awesome little find, but if not, go check it out on The Granby Industrial Estate.

This week's Lo5 is also about supporting our local feeders, and these girls are just that. They work long hours from the crack of dawn to keep workers in the local area fully fed and watered for the day ahead, and do so with a smile (and normally a hint of sarcasm) to keep your spirits high.

So if you get the chance, get over there, take the family, take a work colleague, or as our Director Paul Hines did here, pick up some lovely breakfast wraps to keep moral up in the office. Go on, show them some love!

What's Lo5 all about?

The idea is simple. Encourage everyone to spend just £5 a week with a local business.

Weymouth has around 55,000 residents. If every single one of us spent an extra £5 locally each week, that's an incredible £14.3 MILLION a year supporting our local economy!

More money circulating locally.

More independent businesses thriving.

More jobs supported.

And a stronger, more vibrant community for all of us.
Small actions make a big difference.

A little shout out to last week's supporters, RWB Accounting & Tax

And now I'm passing the baton to Laura Cowburn at Coastland College … who's getting your this week?

Let's keep spreading the local love!

A farm roof used to just keep the weather out.

Now it can help power the entire business.

And I think that’s one of the most interesting changes happening in agriculture.
Farms can have huge energy demands milking equipment, refrigeration, ventilation, irrigation, pumps, workshops and increasingly EVs and electric machinery.

At the same time, many are sitting underneath thousands of square metres of unused roof space.

But it doesn’t stop at the roof.

☀️ Solar can turn unused roof space into electricity
🔋 Batteries can store generation for when it’s actually needed
⚡ On-site generation can reduce reliance on the grid and exposure to energy price increases
🚜 Solar can help power equipment, workshops and other farm operations
💷 Surplus generation may provide an additional revenue stream where export is viable
🌱 Agrivoltaics can allow land to be used for both agriculture and solar generation
🍇 Solar can even be integrated around certain crops, grazing and vineyards rather than simply replacing productive land

For some farms, renewable energy isn't just about becoming “greener”.

It can mean lower operating costs, greater energy independence, another potential income stream and getting more value from land and buildings that are already there.

And with agrivoltaics developing, perhaps the conversation shouldn't always be farming OR renewable energy.

Maybe increasingly, it can be both.

In 10 years’ time, will generating your own energy be as normal on a farm as growing crops or raising livestock?

⚡ ENERGY PRICES ARE COMING DOWN… OR ARE THEY? 🌱

We’ve all seen the headlines about energy prices coming down.

But when you look a little closer at what’s actually happening in the market, the picture is more complicated.

📊 Over the last week:
• Electricity prices ↓ 1.45%
• Gas prices ↑ 0.09%

📈 Over the last month:
• Electricity prices ↑ 13.64%
• Gas prices ↑ 21.88%

So while we may see short-term movements in the market, energy costs remain volatile — and gas continues to have a major influence on what we pay for energy.

And then there’s something very important happening on the other side of the equation…

🌬️☀️ RENEWABLE ENERGY.

An exceptionally strong end to the week for renewable generation helped push down prices at the front end of the power market.

According to Elexon data, renewables accounted for an incredible 73.5% of total generation.

That was the highest level of renewable generation since May 2025, and very close to a record.

🌱 73.5% renewable generation.

This is exactly why we do what we do.

We believe the future of energy isn't just about watching prices rise and fall.

It’s about building a more resilient energy system, reducing our reliance on volatile fossil fuel markets and making better use of the renewable energy available right here in the UK.

The more renewable energy we generate, the less dependent we can become on unpredictable global energy markets.

That’s not just good for the environment.
It’s about energy security, stability and the future cost of energy.

🌬️ More renewables.
⚡ More energy security.
🌱 A cleaner energy future.

And that’s why we do what we do.

🚨 Only 6% of UK commercial buildings have solar.
(Not because landlords don’t want it.)
But because no one’s shown them the upside.
Here’s why it’s the biggest opportunity in 2026 👇

🏢 1. Landlords boost income
→ Solar buildings command higher rents
→ Lower vacancy rates = steadier cashflow
→ EPC upgrades unlock green finance & subsidies

⚡ 2. Tenants save & stay longer
→ Lower bills in an era of volatile grid prices
→ Solar helps them hit ESG/net zero targets
→ Stable energy costs = less turnover risk

💷 3. Financing is solved
→ 100% of costs are able to be offset
→ Asset finance gives a "No capital spend" option
→ Landlords get returns without draining capital

📊 4. Market is wide open
→ 90%+ of roofs untouched
→ Governments pushing 45 GW+ by 2030
→ Early movers lock in the best sites & tenants

Why invest in solar power???

Solar energy offers immediate and long-term financial benefits by significantly reducing electricity costs. Investing in solar power not only gives you the option to reduce your ongoing costs but can even give up the ability to go completely off-grid.

With our expertise, we can help you to find and supply the perfect solar product for your needs...

If your property is older and has solid walls rather than cavity walls, you get insulated via Internal Wall Insulation.

This is done by installing 100mm of insulation, a membrane and then plasterboarded over before the making good and decoration finishes off the job.

Here's one completed recently from one of our happy customers down in Devon.

Feel free to get in touch to see if we can help you out with FREE insulation or heating measures at your home. 💚👍🏼

Did you know we charge just £99 for an EPC on your property?

An EPC is an Energy Performance Certificate which rates the energy efficiency of a property. If you wish to receive an EPC we will send out one of our qualified surveyors to conduct an EPC survey of your dwelling. The surveyor will assess various parts of the property, including heating, ventilation, lighting and existing energy efficient measures (including insulation).
