Another quality installation completed in Oranmore ☀️

This home is now powered by a 20-panel solar system installed on a slate roof - a fantastic setup for generating clean electricity and reducing energy bills for years to come.

Slate roofs require extra care and attention during installation, and the lads did a brilliant job delivering a clean finish while protecting the integrity of the roof throughout the process.

⚡ Bigger home. Bigger usage. Bigger savings potential.

A 6kW solar system is ideal for larger family homes with higher daytime electricity use - especially homes with:
🏡 More occupants
🚗 EV charging
🔥 Heat pumps
🧺 Heavy appliance use
💻 Home offices

For many homes across the West of Ireland, a 6kW system can:
✔ Save €900–€1,200 per year
✔ Pay for itself in around 4–6 years
✔ Continue generating clean electricity for 25+ years

With long bright evenings and peak solar season now underway, your roof could already be covering a huge portion of your electricity usage.

At Mid-West Solar, we design systems specifically for Irish homes and Irish weather - helping families across Galway and the West take control of rising energy costs.

Ireland has the opportunity to take control of its energy future 🇮🇪☀️

Renewable energy is no longer just about sustainability. It’s about energy security, price stability, and independence.

Right now, Ireland still relies heavily on imported energy. That leaves homes, farms and businesses exposed to global price shocks and rising electricity costs. But the good news is we already have the technology to change that.

Solar PV, battery storage and renewable infrastructure can help Ireland:
⚡ Generate more of our own electricity
⚡ Reduce reliance on imported fuels
⚡ Stabilise long-term energy prices
⚡ Protect households and businesses from volatility
⚡ Create a cleaner and more resilient energy system

One of the biggest challenges Ireland faces is that renewable energy is sometimes being wasted because the grid and storage systems aren’t moving fast enough. In simple terms - Ireland is producing clean electricity, but not always able to store or distribute it efficiently.

That’s why battery storage and smarter grid investment are becoming just as important as solar panels themselves.

Here in Galway and across the Mid-West, we’re already seeing more homeowners, farms and businesses taking energy into their own hands with solar installations and battery systems. Every roof that goes solar helps reduce pressure on the grid and strengthens Ireland’s energy independence.

The future isn’t just renewable - it’s local. 🇮🇪☀️

There’s fierce pride in backing local sport around Galway 🇱🇻⚽

At Mid-West Solar, we’re delighted to support clubs and teams all across the West - from grassroots right up to the League of Ireland.

Being a Principal Partner of Galway United F.C. and having our name on the famous “Old Stand” in Eamonn Deacy Park is something we’re hugely proud of.

This unreal shot from a recent home game captures it perfectly - the rainbow over Terryland, the crowd in behind the lads, and the Old Stand lit up under the Galway sky 🌈

That’s what it’s all about. Community. Pride. Galway.

Thanks to everyone who supports the clubs, the teams, and local businesses that keep sport thriving across the West 💪

Another quality installation completed in Furbo 🌞

This home is now powered by a 24-panel solar system installed on a flat tile roof - designed to maximise performance while blending cleanly with the property.

With energy prices continuing to rise, more homeowners across Galway are choosing solar to take control of their electricity costs and future-proof their homes ⚡

✔️ 24 high-efficiency solar panels
✔️ Flat tile roof installation
✔️ Lower electricity bills
✔️ Cleaner, greener energy

A 24-panel, south-facing solar installation in Connemara featuring 450W panels delivers a total system size of 10.8kWp. With an excellent roof pitch and no shading, this type of system is expected to generate close to 10,000kWh of clean electricity every year - dramatically reducing electricity bills while giving the homeowner greater energy independence. On strong summer days, the system could produce over 50kWh of power, turning this roof into a major long-term energy asset 🌞⚡

⚡ “Surely you’d need loads of solar panels to make a dent in your electricity bill?”

Not necessarily 👀

For a typical Irish home spending around €1,800 per year on electricity, you’d only need approximately:

☀️ 12 x 450W solar panels
to dramatically reduce - and potentially offset - most of your annual electricity costs.

That surprises a lot of people.

⭐ Quick rule of thumb for homes in the west of Ireland:

Panels Needed ≈ Annual Usage (kWh) ÷ 450

Example👇
€1,800 electricity bill ≈ 5,500 kWh usage per year

5,500 ÷ 450 = 12.2

➡️ So roughly 12–13 panels.

𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:
✅ South-facing roof = best performance
✅ East/west roofs still work brilliantly
✅ Shading from trees/buildings reduces output
✅ Battery storage increases self-use
✅ Daytime electricity usage matters a lot

The biggest misconception we hear?
“That my roof isn’t suitable.”

Most homes are far better candidates for solar than people think ☀️

If you’re curious what size system would suit your home, send us a message and we’ll happily point you in the right direction 👌

There’s something about the month of May in the West of Ireland ☀️🌿

The days are long, the evenings are bright, and your solar panels are finally getting the conditions they’ve been waiting for all year.

May is a standout month for solar because:
⚡ Longer daylight hours = more generation
⚡ Higher sun angle = better performance
⚡ Milder weather = ideal conditions for installs
⚡ You start seeing real savings heading into summer

Out here in the West, we mightn’t always get blazing sunshine - but we get long, consistent daylight, and that’s where solar really shines.

It’s also one of the best times to get installed - you’ll be up and running just in time to make the most of the peak summer months 🌞

If you’ve been thinking about solar, May is your moment.
