The victory of good over evil might not always be visible ,but on some occasions it demands a grand resolution,a moment when the battle concludes and the eternal truth shines triumphant

Dashami or Vijayadashami is that culmination, the moment the fury of Shakti results in the victory of Dharma. No matter how overwhelming the chaos ,how dark the shadow ,evil is temporary. In Her return to Mount Kailash,She leaves behind an indomitable legacy; The assurance that righteousness will always prevail.

Dashami serves to remind us of the promise that light never truly fades; it simply takes root within us.Victory is not merely the slaying of a demon or the rescue of a loved one,but rather the triumph of truth over falsehood, humility of ego, and devotion over despair.Shakti does not leave,She resides within every heart that dares to stand for truth, fight for justice and conquer its inner darkness.

The universe does not always answer darkness with light. Sometimes, it awakens a power that darkness was never meant to challenge.

Maa Durga is that eternal power the Shakti that restores balance when chaos threatens creation, the force that reminds the universe that Dharma may be tested, but never abandoned. In Her eyes lies the calm of infinity, in Her hands, the strength to destroy ignorance, ego, and evil. She is both the tenderness that nurtures life and the fury that protects it. Her power is not merely in the battles She wins, but in the cosmic truth She embodies, when righteousness is threatened, the Divine does not remain powerless.

This sacred Maha Ashtami stands as a reminder that true strength lies in conquering inner darkness, upholding Dharma, and standing unwaveringly for truth. Shakti is not merely a force to be worshipped, She is the eternal power that sustains creation, destroys evil, and restores the cosmic balance.

At 4:00 AM, through the crackle of a vintage radio, a familiar resonance cuts through the autumn mist. Long before digital alarms took over, the thunderous cadence of Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s Mahishasuramardini bound generations to a single frequency that marks the poetic transition from the somber remembrance of Pitru Paksha to the radiant dawn of Devi Paksha.

Mahalaya is more than an ancient tradition; it is an enduring cultural imprint. It is etched into the scent of morning shiuli, the sway of kashful, and the sacred stroke of Chokkhudaan that breathes life into the idols. To a curious mind, it stands as living trivia, a masterclass in how folklore, sonic heritage, and mythology fuse into the heartbeat of an entire civilization.

QuizInc celebrates this dawn of triumph, intellect, and timeless storytelling. As the dhak prepares its rhythm and the countdown to Pujo reaches its crescendo, we wish everyone a spiritually resonant, curious, and joyous Shubho Mahalaya!

Some artists leave a mark through their work, while others touch hearts and inspire generations. Nana Patekar was one such artist, admired for his powerful performances, distinctive voice and ability to bring every character to life.

A recipient of three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri, he was also a national-level r***e shooter. Beyond cinema, he spent around 60 days with Indian Army personnel during the 1999 Kargil War, reflecting his courage and dedication to the nation. His humanitarian contributions further revealed the compassionate heart behind the celebrated artist.

His voice may fall silent, but his legacy will never fade. His work, words and impact will continue to live in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Nana Patekar. A legend forever remembered.

A pinch of salt that shook an empire. A simple wooden charkha that redefined self-reliance. A frail man wrapped in homespun khadi who proved that moral conviction could overpower the world's most formidable imperial machinery.

On this day in 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born, not into myth, but into history. Long before he became the Mahatma, his journey was forged through relentless self-scrutiny, quiet defiance, and an unwavering pursuit of truth. From the railway platforms of Pietermaritzburg to the dust-blown trails of the Dandi March, his experiments with truth showed that the greatest revolutions do not roar with cannon fire; they march quietly with conviction, discipline, and unyielding resolve.

Beyond the textbooks and the currency notes, Gandhi's legacy survives as in a world torn by division and hate, we should possess the courage to choose dialogue over discord, humility over arrogance, and principle over convenience.

QuizInc, NIT Durgapur, pays homage to the Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary. May we continue to question, to seek truth fearlessly, and to remember that the pursuit of knowledge begins with an honest mind.

Happy Gandhi Jayanti!

QuizInc presents the fifth edition of Fact or Fiction, a series that puts popular myths to the test. From science and history to pop culture, each edition examines widely believed claims and uncovers what the evidence really says. Join us as we separate fact from fiction-because the truth is often more surprising than the myth.
"Zooming in on any unbroken curve will eventually reveal a smooth, straight line with a defined slope."

This fundamental mathematical assumption is FICTION.

For centuries, mathematicians believed that any continuous curve could be measured using standard calculus. In 1872, Karl Weierstrass shattered this belief by introducing a function that is continuous everywhere, yet differentiable nowhere.

Instead of flattening out when magnified, the Weierstrass function reveals infinite, jagged complexity at every scale. Charles Hermite recoiled at the discovery, calling it a "monstrous aberration". Far from a useless anomaly, this mathematical "monster" laid the foundation for modern fractal geometry, proving that nature contains paths too rough for smooth calculus to measure.
