🪞 The characteristic metallic green sheen of Escherichia coli on Liofilchem® m-Endo Agar LES.

This distinctive appearance is a hallmark of lactose-fermenting coliforms grown on Liofilchem® m-Endo Agar LES, a selective medium designed for the detection and enumeration of coliform bacteria in water samples using the membrane filtration technique.
Recommended by APHA for the microbiological examination of drinking water, m-Endo Agar LES allows the typical differentiation of coliform colonies, which appear pink to dark red with a characteristic metallic green sheen, facilitating rapid and reliable interpretation of results.

🩸 A clearer plate. Faster reading. Greater confidence.

The bright, uniform red color of Liofilchem® Mueller Hinton Fastidious Agar (Ref. 11032 / 10132) enhances contrast, making inhibition zones easier to read, reducing interpretation errors, and helping laboratories streamline their antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) workflow.

Recommended by EUCAST (European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing), Mueller Hinton Fastidious Agar (5% horse blood + 20 mg/L β-NAD) is designed for AST of Streptococcus spp. (including S. pneumoniae), Haemophilus spp., and other clinically relevant fastidious organisms.

As antimicrobial resistance continues to rise, reliable AST of fastidious bacteria is becoming increasingly important for accurate patient management and antimicrobial stewardship.

📏 Reading results correctly matters: always measure the zone of bacterial growth inhibition, not the zone of hemolysis inhibition. Interpret zone diameters and MIC values according to the latest EUCAST breakpoint tables to classify isolates as Susceptible, Susceptible with increased exposure, or Resistant (S/I/R).

🌡️ Did you know the story behind the name Cronobacter sakazakii?

This foodborne pathogen takes its name from Cronus, the Greek Titan known for devouring his own children, and Dr. Riichi Sakazaki, the Japanese microbiologist who made significant contributions to its identification.

Cronobacter sakazakii is a major food safety concern, particularly in powdered infant formula, where contamination can have devastating consequences for newborns and infants. With summer temperatures often reaching its optimal growth range of 37–43°C (98.6–109.4°F), maintaining strict microbiological control is more important than ever.

Liofilchem’s Enterobacter (Cronobacter) sakazakii Isolation Agar (Ref. 11623) is a chromogenic medium designed for the selective isolation of Cronobacter spp. (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii) from infant milk products, in full compliance with ISO 22964.

✅ Characteristic result: Cronobacter sakazakii produces green to blue-green colonies, allowing rapid and reliable presumptive identification.

01/07/2026

Beta-lactamase production remains a primary mechanism of bacterial resistance against penicillins and cephalosporins in a wide variety of both Gram positive and Gram-negative microorganisms. Early identification of these enzymes can optimize the hospital treatment strategies.

☝🏼The Liofilchem Beta Lactamase Test (Ref. 88033) is an affordable and sustainable device that delivers precise biochemical screening without any complex equipment.
A positive Beta Lactamase test reaction is shown by the development of a pink/red colour. No colour change is observed with organisms that do not produce beta-lactamases.

🧫 Neisseria gonorrhoeae on the 🆕 GC Medium + 1% Vitox agar plate.

The Liofilchem GC Medium + 1% Vitox agar plate is an enriched culture medium for the isolation and cultivation of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and other fastidious microorganisms. It is the medium recommended by CLSI for antimicrobial susceptibility testing using the Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion method and is suitable for usage with MTS™ (MIC Test Strip) too.

🧽 Microbiological sampling sponges are essential tools for monitoring surface hygiene, especially in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Check out the complete range of our new Sponges: https://lnkd.in/d6UWss47

Sponges are available as dry or pre-moistened with neutralizing solutions (such as neutralizing buffer or Letheen broth), which are essential for inactivating any disinfectant residues that could distort test results by inhibiting bacterial growth. They are designed to be robust and non-shedding, ensuring that the collected sample is representative of the true microbial load of the area being analyzed.

Our range of Sponges are available as dry or pre-moistened, with or without stick.
