A Third FAI World Record for the RISEN SV 916

The RISEN SV 916 has set a ratified world record for speed over a 100 km closed circuit: 426.04 km/h (230.0 kt).

Piloted by Alberto Porto with Sabina Maria David as crew member, the flight took place over Monte Cevedale, Italy, on 16 October 2025.

The FAI now lists it as the current world record in the RAL2T subclass of Class R (Microlights).

Together with the 15 km straight-course and 50 km closed-circuit records achieved that day, this marks a third world record for the RISEN SV 916.

From Türkiye to Italy in a single autumn day.

On September 30, the Risen SV 916 flew from Çanakkale in Türkiye to L’Aquila in Italy, with a stop in Ioannina, Greece. The journey covered approximately 1,000 nautical miles (1,850 km), crossing three countries in one day.

The photos capture a remarkable trip, but the distance tells the story too. The Risen SV 916 brings speed and range together, making a journey of this scale possible within a single day.

A trip like this is a chance to enjoy the flight as much as each destination. The Risen’s range gives pilots room to explore: at a fuel-saving speed, the published range is up to 2,800 km for the 912iS and 3,400 km for the SV 916, with standard fuel tanks.

Congratulations to KestrelX on its new U.S. Navy contract to provide low-observable aircraft for threat-replication training.

The Risen 916iS SV recently caught the attention of AirOnline.nl during a stop at Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands.

The RISEN SV 916, piloted by Alberto Porto with crew member Giorgio Terruzzi, holds the current FAI World Record for speed over a closed circuit of 50 km in Class R (Microlights).

The record was achieved on 16 October 2025 in Valtellina, Italy, in the RAL2T subclass.

The record was achieved on 16 October 2025 in Chiavenna, Italy, and is now officially ratified by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) as the current world record in the RAL2T subclass.
