🎉 Congratulations to our Board Chair, Mrs. Sheree Ebanks, on being honoured with Canada’s 2026 Woman in Energy Award!

Presented during the CANCarib Climate Smart Opportunities Summit 2026, the award recognises Mrs. Ebanks’ significant contribution to the Cayman Islands’ energy industry.

Since becoming Chair in 2022, Mrs. Ebanks has made history as the first woman to lead CUC’s Board of Directors since the Company began operations in 1966. In her role, she has provided strategic oversight as CUC advances its generation planning, integrates renewable energy and works to maintain a resilient and reliable electricity grid.

🌦️ September 2026 Weather Update

While September brought more rain and cloud cover across the island, temperatures remained warm overall. The month recorded an average temperature of 85.8°F, slightly lower than August's average of 87.6°F. September also saw a high of 94.5°F and a low of 73.6°F.

Although temperatures eased slightly, many homes and businesses likely continued using air conditioning to stay comfortable. During wetter months, it's important to remember that humidity can have just as much impact on comfort as temperature, causing cooling systems to work harder even when it doesn't feel quite as hot outside.

💡 Energy Tip: If your thermostat has a humidity control or dehumidification setting, consider using it. Reducing excess indoor humidity can help your home feel cooler and more comfortable, potentially reducing the need to lower the thermostat temperature.

Understanding how weather patterns influence electricity use can help you make informed decisions and better manage your energy consumption throughout the year. ⚡🌴

Helping to keep fuel costs more stable. ⚡

While global fuel prices remain unpredictable, the CIG Fuel Relief Programme is helping to shield eligible customers from the full impact of higher fuel costs and avoid a sharper increase in electricity bills.

For an average household using 1,200 kWh per month, the programme provides approximately $70.44 in savings at September 2026 fuel-cost rates.

⚡ October Fuel Rate Update | Fuel Relief Continues

While the fuel cost rate has increased to CI$0.242 per kWh for October, the Cayman Islands Government’s Fuel Relief Programme continues to help provide greater fuel cost stability for eligible customers.

Eligible Residential and Residential Prepay customers will continue to pay a capped fuel cost of CI$0.18 per kWh on the first 2,000 kWh consumed.

📊 The cap is automatically applied to customers whose monthly consumption falls between 101 kWh and 3,500 kWh.

Customers outside the programme’s eligibility requirements will be billed at the standard October fuel cost rate of CI$0.242 per kWh.

🍃 Remember, energy efficiency matters year-round. As we enter the cooler months, continue making energy-conscious choices and use MyCUC to keep track of your consumption.
