βΌοΈβ οΈYour Ceiling Is Crackingβ¦ Should You Be Worried? π€
If you just simply fixing your ceiling without finding the root cause and fixing it, the crack will for sure come back! So find the root cause.
π First find out what is causing it? Follow this checklist
1οΈβ£ Any water leakage?
Is there any
* Yellow or brown stains?
* Peeling paint?
* Damp patches?
* Mould?
If any of these is there, water leakage can be the reason! This can come from roof, plumbing or even your air-con!
If you just repair the crack without fixing the leakage, it will crack again.
π 2οΈβ£ Has the Crack Changed?
Ask yourself:
* Is it getting longer?
* Is it getting wider?
* Has it started appearing in other areas?
Buildings naturally expand, contract, and settle over time. Small movement is normal, but cracks that continue to change should be looked at.
β οΈ 3οΈβ£ Look Beyond the Ceiling
Check
* is your ceiling sagging?
* any of the door or window getting difficult to close?
* any other new cracks around the premise?
β¦the issue may not be the ceiling itself. It could indicate movement elsewhere in the building.
π¨ 4οΈβ£ Could It Be the Ceiling Installation?
If youβve ruled out water damage and building movement, the problem may lie within the ceiling system itself.
Things like the framework, joint finishing, or materials used can all affect how well a plaster ceiling performs over time.
A proper inspection is the best way to identify the actual cause.
