A grapple attachment on a digger kept breaking its hydraulic hose protectors, and the original part had been discontinued. So the customer brought the problem to us.

Our team handled the whole job in house, from CAD design through to machining new protectors from 50mm thick Grade 350 steel plate, built to handle the job better than the original.

Cuddon is presenting sponsor of the Southern Tour, on this weekend, 29 and 30 August, right here in Marlborough.

We also sponsor Cuddon Cycling Marlborough, who are hosting the event across the Seddon Domain, Wakefield Street and out into the Awatere Valley.

Good luck to every rider competing across the Time Trial, Criterium, Hill Climb and Road Stage, including the National Criterium title decided this weekend.

Two more 30 tonne drift decks rolled out of our workshop in June, built for OneForty One New Zealand for use on their forestry tracks.

Drift decks like these provide a strong, reliable crossing over waterways and gullies, keeping harvesting crews and heavy machinery moving whatever the conditions.

Every deck we build is made to order. Length, under clearance height and weight rating can all be tailored to suit the site and the machinery running over it.

Some projects are a real privilege to work on.

Last year our team fabricated custom stainless steel mounts for these magnificent parāoa (s***m whale) jaw bones, and installed them for Rangitāne o Wairau.

Each mount was shaped to cradle the bones securely, then bead blasted in our own workshop to give a soft matte finish that lets the taonga take centre stage.

The jaws now hold pride of place in the foyer at Rangitāne House, where they can be appreciated by everyone who walks through the doors.

It was an honour to help bring this display to life for the iwi. If you are in the area, they are well worth a look.

Our Engineering team just finished folding what's likely the largest steel cone we've ever made in house, built by Pete Krynicki, Engineer, for Fonterra. It's 6mm H300 mild steel, with a 310mm ID at one end and 1870mm ID at the other.

Each half of the cone is formed from 25 individual bend lines at 7.2° increments, and because the cone is offset (the centrelines at each end don't line up), getting the geometry right before it ever touches the press is just as critical as the folding itself.

The job was formed on our 220 tonne, 4 metre press brake, the biggest in Marlborough as far as we know, which gives us the length and tonnage to handle plate work at this scale.

Great work Pete on this one, it's a serious piece of fabrication for a great client.

What an incredible turnout for the More FM Marlborough Mid Winter Swim! With 184 registered swimmers taking the icy plunge, it was the biggest crowd the event has seen in a few years.

We want to send a huge congratulations to our grand prize winner, John McGreery! John has braved the freezing water four or five times over the years, so he is incredibly deserving of a brand-new Mitsubishi heat pump and full installation to help him thaw out properly this winter.

Thanks to More FM and to everyone who came down to the Picton Foreshore to make it such a great morning. See you all next year!
