Quick job on the Mazda today, I had a motorcycle tank filler laying around so turned it into an oil filler for the 13b

I think it fits in well with the old school vibe of the dash and other features

Busy Saturday getting the dash and center console mounted and making the end caps for the dash, now I can finish off shaping the center console to match the trans tunnel

Couldn’t help myself once it was all in place and had to mount the autometer gauges and so-cal speed shop switches to see how they looked with the billet specialties steering wheel and I am so happy with how it has come together

Progress is always a good thing even when you find out things are not going to plan

Got the pedal box mount welded in today and cut the sheet metal back yo make sure I had enough clearance between the clutch master cylinder and the air filter, that was going well until I went to close the bonnet and noticed the short air filter is to tall to fit under the bonnet

So I moved onto mounting the fuel pressure regulator and I am very happy with how that will work

Progress on the mazda dash think its turning out rather well

As the sun rises on a new year so does the bagged trailer’s roof (see what I did there)

Lots of progress over the break with getting the design draw up in CAD (cardboard aided design, i’m on a roll today) and the cutting the 5 pieces of steel so I could wheel and bead roll then then spend hours tig welding them together just so I could then spend hours planish then out.

The trailer also makes a great adjustabletable so I could do some shrinking

Im happy with how it has come out now onto the rest of it before we head out camping in less than a week

Productive weekend on the mazda

Cut the original dash out to make way for the custom sheet metal one I will be making.
Cut the firewall up to fit the wilwood pedal box I have been working on.
Cleaned up the ididit steering column and made a very stout hanger for it.

With all this work I have got about 10mm of clearance between the tyre and the sheet metal under the master cylinder so thats a win, I will be able to have a flat floor and cover my sunken floor as I have got enough room for my feet now.

The down side is I had to cut into my bead rolled guards and im going to have to cut into the bonnet structure so it will close over the master cylinder reservoirs, the things you have to do when you body drop a small vehicle

When inspiration strikes you have to take it.

I have been going though the motions of how to mount the pedal box as I wanted to use a reverse mount pedal box to hide the master cylinders but with the body drop in the Mazda i was running out of foot room so I went back to a conventional set up and found the my wheel tubs were going to interfere with one of the master cylinders so i needed to move it up and back to help make clearance for the wheel, and here we are with this setup so i can put everything where it needs to be.

Now let’s see what else it will interfere with.

Todays job making something to stop the dogs getting into the front of a Jimny, should do the trick nicely
