🔧All Go at the Waikanae Yard 🔧

Case 2050M Bulldozer - In for Trimble GPS installation including blade mounts, full radio spec out, tow rope holder and towing coupler installed with a few other additions, to get ready for hard work out on the field.

Cat 740 Dump Truck Ejector Bowls - We have a rotation of ejector bowl rebuilds going to keep downtime to a minimum & ensure a replacement is available when needed.

Crusher Plant - Working hard & in for some maintenance. The crushers are currently being used at Goodrock Recycling and on-site. The on-site crushers are loaded with river rock mined from multiple material supply sites (Borrows) & break the material down to be used across the project, lowering cost & imports from elsewhere.

Hydrema 912 – Getting a birthday touch up! This little Dumper is due to have both differentials & all four final drive removed for preventative maintenance. Even our small gear needs some love to keep it happy on site.

It's been 1 year since construction began on Ōtaki to north of Levin: Te Pae o Tararua, a new 24-kilometre Road of National Significance expressway.
We've had a super first year, hitting our project milestones and setting ourselves up well for the next construction season.

Here's a brief snapshot of some interesting stats from the project's first year of construction:
• We've moved 1.2 million cubic metres of earth
• We've finished 20 culverts (of a total of 70)
• 11 structures are under construction (of a total of 15)
• We've planted 185,000 plants (of about 2.2 million)
• 2500 fish have been relocated
• 27 lizards have been rehomed in the Predator Proof Area
• 150 locals (including 80 youth and jobseekers) have been employed and given training opportunities on the project.
• We've installed all the beams on two bridges – the North Island Main Trunk overbridge and the North Manakau Road overbridge- and we're on track to have them structurally complete by the end of 2026.

Season 2 of Ōtaki to north of Levin is underway and it's looking bigger and better than the last. We'll be doing a lot of earthworks, moving at least 1.6 million cubic metres (that's 400,000 more than the year just been!).

What this means is that by this time next year we'll be over 60% of the way through completing the total earthworks projected for this project.

While this is going on we'll still be working to finish the 15 structures on the project, with 7 of these on track for completion by September 2027.

When finished the new expressway will improve safety, resilience and efficiency for those moving through the Horowhenua and lower North Island. We expect to be finished with our work in late 2029.

Even with Winter rain slowing work down, the Plimmerton Farms team has been making GOOD progress.

All go at the Waikanae Yard! 🔧

Rollers - Made in house for rolling out and precutting geogrid sheets.

Wabco Scraper 222G - Had a broken tooth on the bullgear, now ready to replace and head back out.

CAT Dumper 730A - Has been waiting for a rebuild for at least 5 years. Our mechanics are going to be stoked when it finally leaves the workshop!

🚧Throwback to 1990 Macalister Park Job🚧

Rick Acquired a contract in 1990 to make a cutting hole in the hill for a new water reservoir. The council had Goodmans use this dirt to resurface the park which had been an old landfill. Quite cool to see the park now 36 years later still looking GOOD and utilised everyday by dog walkers and sports players alike.

Plimmerton Farms 🚧

The GOOD work continues on the Plimmerton Farms job! The photos are from the end of March but the 637s are running dirt flat out this month. Peat undercuts and ground improvements continue.

More SRP are being constructed and major culverts carry on.
