Formed in 1993, Wellington based EMCO was tasked with establishing the NZ Electricity Market - mission accomplished in 1996. An expert designer, builder and operator of commodity markets, EMCO's expertise was soon in demand across the world. The millennium saw a name change to M-co and rapid growth with offices established in Sydney, Johannesburg, London, and Washington DC. In Singapore, we establ

ished and operated their electricity market. Locally, full retail competition was introduced and the electricity market saw off dry winters and gas shortages. Over time the global regulatory environment changed. With it, M-co continued to evolve and adapt. It moved into the gas and environmental markets and established the Unlisted sharemarket. In 2009 the business was acquired by NZX . . . where the EMCO / M-co philosophy, culture and spirit lives on!
