Finding Your Voice
Many people who experience gender-based violence struggle to speak about it. Silence often comes from learned beliefs about staying strong, hiding emotions, or avoiding vulnerability. But the impact is real.
Survivors may carry feelings of shame, humiliation, anger, fear, powerlessness, and confusion. These emotions can lead to withdrawal, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, difficulty concentrating, anger outbursts, substance use, and even thoughts of self-harm.
If any of this feels familiar, or if you are someone currently experience gender-based violence in your relationship, you are not alone, reach out to someone you trust, and take the first step to breaking the cycle of violence.
