Behind every home, business and essential service in Singapore is a power grid designed to operate seamlessly 24/7.

Last year, our electricity and gas network operations continued to achieve reliability levels of over 99.9999% - in the league of the world’s best! We attained a System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) of 0.328 for electricity and 0.003 for gas supply. This means that a customer experienced an average disruption of only 19.7 seconds in electricity supply and 0.18 seconds in piped gas supply. This places Singapore among the world’s most reliable power system alongside cities such as Beijing, Melbourne, Munich and Tokyo, and ahead of many other major cities in the world.

These results reflect disciplined operations, sustained investment in technology and capabilities and the dedication of our colleagues who keep our networks running smoothly.

This World Environment Day, it’s a reminder that progress towards a more sustainable future depends on a strong foundation - safe, resilient, and sustainable energy systems.

Congratulations to our colleague Melody Yap on being recognised as a Model Worker at the NTUC Singapore May Day Awards 2026!

Starting her career as a Customer Care Officer, Melody now leads the Customer Service Centre at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. In her 15‑year career at SP Group, she is known for her strong leadership in driving sustained impact in service excellence. She plays a key role in SP’s initiatives to develop self-service digital tools for customers.

By simplifying processes and uplifting service experience, Melody strives to bring greater convenience to customers. She is often entrusted with resolving challenging cases and turning them around, earning compliments from customers.

Congratulations to our colleague Abdul Rahman Bin Suthamoo, Technical Officer, Electricity Operations, on being recognised as a Comrade of Labour at the NTUC Singapore May Day Awards 2026!

Abdul Rahman is part of the team that has built Singapore’s electricity grid to its current world-class standing. With over 30 years of experience at SP Group, he manages cable works across western Singapore and works closely with national agencies to power essential services for public and industrial facilities.

Through continuous learning and upskilling, backed by SP’s support in his higher education, Abdul Rahman has deepened his technical expertise and taken on expanded responsibilities.

As an Executive Councillor of UPAGE, he has been actively involved in elevating job roles.

Abdul Rahman consistently champions strong workplace safety initiatives at SP and as a member of NTUC’s Workplace Safety and Health Committee.

SP Group (SP) and Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation (KBC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to study and develop district cooling system models for industrial parks in Vietnam.

Through this partnership, both parties aim to explore sustainable cooling solutions that can help industrial parks improve energy efficiency, optimise operational costs and support carbon reduction goals 🌱

Keeping Singapore’s world-class gas network safe and resilient takes deep expertise and operational excellence.

Congratulations to our colleague Salman BK, Principal Engineer, Gas Operations on receiving the Comrade of Labour (Star) at the NTUC Singapore May Day Awards 2026.

Salman exemplifies strong labour-management relations and is committed to uplifting workers’ welfare. For over three decades at SP Group, Salman has provided constructive input to job redesign, digitalisation and multi-skilling efforts – leading to improved wage outcomes, clearer progression pathways and enhanced workforce capabilities.

Salman also walks the talk in continuous learning and development, rising steadily through the ranks from Technical Officer to Principal Engineer. He is General Treasurer of the UPAGE and a long-serving union leader.

From ground level to greater heights, technology is helping our people work smarter and more safely 🚁

Certified drone pilot Soo Ee Siong and his colleagues once relied on boom lifts and manual visual checks to inspect building facades for signs of issues like peeling, cracks and corrosion, which could impact building safety. Today, that painstaking process is a thing of the past. By deploying drones, the team can conduct detailed aerial inspections, detecting abnormalities with greater precision while enhancing safety.

Did you know that solar panels could do more than just generate energy? ☀️🚗

That’s now a reality at STMicroelectronics NV’s Singapore headquarters (STAMK), where SP Group has successfully turned on a new solar PV system that goes beyond rooftops and extends into solar carports that generate clean energy while keeping vehicles shaded.

With a total capacity of 573 kilowatt-peak, the system will generate about 710 megawatt-hour of clean energy per year. This will supplement 20 per cent of the electricity needs at ST’s Singapore headquarters building and Ang Mo Kio 1, one of the buildings onsite. In all, it will help reduce 286 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
