September 9, 1922, marks the day Turkey's struggle for independence was crowned with victory. After three years of occupation and 3.5 years of relentless resistance, the Turkish army entered İzmir, sealing the freedom of Anatolia with a decisive triumph. The War of Independence, completed with the liberation of İzmir, soon paved the way for the world's recognition of Turkey's sovereignty through the Treaty of Lausanne. This victory stands as a symbol not only of a city's liberation, but of a nation's rebirth and today, every citizen of İzmir takes pride in being part of this honorable legacy. Happy September 9th.
9 Eylül 1922, Türk milletinin bağımsızlık mücadelesinin taçlandığı gündür. Üç yıl süren işgalin ardından Türk ordusu İzmir'e girmiş, Anadolu'nun özgürlüğü kesin zaferle mühürlenmiştir. 3,5 yıl süren direniş, türlü muharebeler ve çekilen acıların ardından, İzmir'in kurtuluşu ile tamamlanan Kurtuluş Savaşı Türkiye'nin egemenliğinin dünyaca tanınmasının yolunu açmıştır. İzmir'in kurtuluşu, yalnızca bir kentin değil, bir milletin yeniden doğuşunun sembolüdür ve bugün her İzmirli, bu onurlu mirasın bir parçası olmaktan gurur duyar. 9 Eylül Kutlu olsun.
