September is here, and fall is right around the corner! 🍂
Before the cooler weather settles in, take a little time to get your home ready for the season. We put together a quick checklist to help you get started!
1. Test your smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
A great time to test them and replace batteries if needed.
2. Reverse your ceiling fans
Switch them to clockwise to help circulate warm air downward once you start using the heat.
3. Inspect your fireplace & chimney
If you have a wood-burning fireplace, September is a good time to have it inspected/cleaned before you need it.
4. Check your outdoor lighting
The days are getting shorter! Make sure porch lights, pathway lights, and other exterior lighting are working.
5. Prep your entryway
Add a spot for jackets, shoes, umbrellas, backpacks, etc. before the fall clutter starts piling up.
6. Inspect your roof from the ground
Look for missing or damaged shingles, visible wear, or anything that looks out of place before fall rain arrives.
7. Give your garage a reset
Put away summer gear and make room for fall/winter items—tools, sports equipment, bikes, holiday storage, etc.
Save this post and tackle a few things this month—you’ll be glad you did when fall is in full swing!
