Position Overview: Operates and performs routine maintenance on spiral winding machines that automatically wind round tubes for a broad range of industrial and commercial applications.

Essential Job Functions
• Retrieves and loads paper on reel stands, frequently required to lift up to 60lbs.
• Perform machine set-up:
o Will need to change glue; including retrieving, mixing and testing
o Will need to retrieve, change and/or install a new belt for round winding
o Will need to retrieve, change and/or install a new mandrel, bushings, slit and wind blade set up.
o Will need to adjust glue pot for spreading a lighter or heavier application
o Will need to change and/or adjust the tension devices to accommodate changes in ribbon strip widths
• Threads the ribbons of paper under the winding belt and around the mandrel
• Adjusts the finger to give proper spacing and butting of seams
• Adjusts ribbon tension with required devices
• Adjusts the cut-off equipment to achieve correct cut-off length
• May need to run multiple glue pots.
• Install and set-up and use heaters (contact, air and infrared, etc.)
• Set-up and use lubrication pots.
• Bring and hold winding machine at required speed where and while good quality can be maintained
It has always been the duty of each operator to check their own work at the time of the set-up and during the time the job is running. They are responsible for the tubes they wind and all the corresponding documentation, verifications, inspections and production rates.

Other Job Functions
• Reads work orders and specifications to determine materials and set-up required to manufacture applicable part
• Retrieves a supply of required boxes and/or carts for finished products
• Is able to inspect all dimensions and request 2nd inspection as required
• Moves filled cases and/or carts to shipping or secondary processes as required
• Keeps work area and equipment clean and organized according to 5S principles
Primary inspections to be made by the operator (not a complete list):
• Inside diameter (ID) of tube and specified mandrel
• Outside diameter (OD)
• Construction: number and types (material and color) of plies
• Gluing and bonding of plies
• Length
• Wall
Primary inspection tools to be used by the operator (not a complete list):
• Caliper / Micrometers
• Tape measure
• Gauges

Position Overview: Sets up, adjust, and change over various machines for cutting tubed based upon customer specifications. Starts machine to test adjustments and examines test pieces for defects such as burs, correct cut angle and depth, and readjusting as needed.
Essential Job Functions
• Perform all set-up steps to load, operate and tear down as rotary cutting machine.
• Perform all changeover process steps to load, operate, and tear down rotary cutting machine.
• Select correct mandrel size based upon job/work order, inspecting mandrel for obvious damage due to stress or other factors.
• Adjust set screws, and power blade settings if necessary, spacing circular cutting blades to specification based on job/work order.
• Start machine to test adjustments and examine test pieces for defects such as burs, correct cut angle and depth, and readjusting as needed.
• Install and adjust feed mechanisms, guide rollers, tracks, machine fittings, and attachments, according to job/work order.
• Sharpen machine punches and blades, and disassembles machines, replacing worn or defective parts.
• Maintain equipment in proper working order. Perform regular scheduled preventative maintenance as required.
• Meet quality and efficiency standards.
• Manages one’s time to reduce machine down time during change-over, equipment and process adjustments.
• Perform required tasks and assignments with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
• Participate in team dynamics, aiding others as needed, seek help as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and promote safety with others.
Other Job Functions
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Production Manager.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Skills/Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work as a team member and assist others; contributing knowledge, skills, time, and effort.
• Ability to persevere, be patient and diligent toward completing the job assignment, and detail oriented.
• Easily adaptable and willing to learn, able to remember basic process steps to ensure accuracy and quality while making approve adjustments as needed.
• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and mechanisms.
• Ability to watch, listen and learn.

Position Overview: Operates and performs routine maintenance on slitting machines that convert large diameter rolls into various slit widths for winding department or sold a finished product.

Essential Job Functions
• Retrieves and loads paper on slitter with Clamp Fork Truck, frequently required to lift up to 60lbs.
• Perform machine set-up:
o Will need to set up blades as required to minimize scrap.
o May need to change dull blades as needed.
o May need to remove damaged material from master roll before slitting.
• Threads the paper over/under various roller bars and then secures paper to cores or tucks as required.
• Adjusts the bow spreader or buttons as needed before the run to accommodate width of roll.
• Brings machine up to speed slowly, making fine adjustments as needed for quality paper and then increases speed when quality can be assured.
• Moves materials to roll off table and stamps appropriate part number on rolls as required.
• Breaks rolls apart if necessary and stacks neatly on pallet. Operator then moves paper to warehouse or winding as needed.
