Harlan E. Davenport Obituary
Harlan Eugene Davenport, age 76, lifelong Belleville resident, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Trinity Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. He was born November 29, 1949, in Detroit, MI, son of Aubrey Chamus & Christine (Prater) Davenport. Harlan graduated from Belleville High School, class of 1967. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam conflict. Harlan was the President of Davenport Brothers Construction Company, Inc. His knowledge, leadership, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality helped shape countless projects, businesses, and careers over the years. Harlan enjoyed fishing, hunting, classic cars, baseball, and going out to eat, especially breakfast. Most of all, Harlan cherished time spent with his family, kids, grandkids, and many friends. His legacy will continue through the many lives he touched and the work he helped build throughout his community.
Mr. Davenport is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sara Mae (Beachum) Davenport, 5 children: Stacie (Dwight) Jackson of Romulus, MI, Stephanie (Nick) Lyos of Manchester, MI, Michael (Nicole) Davenport of Belleville, MI, Drew (Karli) Davenport of Livonia, MI, and Nick (Leah) Davenport of Belleville, MI; 20 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a sister Diane (David) Holland of Clermont, Florida, two brothers: Steve (Becky) Davenport and Mark (Theresa) Davenport, both of Belleville, MI; also numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Mark Davenport, Jr., and grandson Bronson Lyos.
Visitation will be 12-8 PM on Wednesday, and 11-12 Thursday, July 30, 2026, with a 12noon Funeral Service at David C. Brown Funeral Home, 460 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville, MI 48111-2764 (734)697-4500. Pastor Wayne Jacobs will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Belleville, MI.
