As the school year comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment to congratulate some members of the Gehringer Mechanical family who are embarking on exciting new chapters.

🔧 Tyler is graduating from Berks Career & Technology Center, East Campus, and has earned his Journeyman Plumber’s License.

⚡ Damien Paul, our Electrical Department Helper, is graduating from Pottstown Area High School and the Career and Technical Education Electrician Program. He will continue working with Gehringer Mechanical throughout the summer before attending Northampton Community College this fall, where he will pursue Electrical Technology.

🎓 Lily, daughter of our Service Manager Trey, is graduating from Daniel Boone High School and will be attending Slippery Rock University this fall to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.

🌊 Ellie, daughter of our Administrative Assistant Brittany, is graduating from 5th grade at Earl Elementary School. When she grows up, she hopes to become a Marine Biologist and run an animal shelter—a wonderful reflection of her love for both animals and the environment.

As one chapter closes and another begins, there are always mixed emotions: pride, excitement, gratitude, and anticipation for what lies ahead. As a family-owned and operated company, celebrating these milestones together is incredibly special to us.

Our VP’s son has been part of Gehringer Mechanical since he was just a kid helping out during the summers and learning the value of hard work from the ground up. Now, he’s a proud member of the team, serving as an HVAC Technician for the past 6 years.

Here’s a simple “tour” of the key components:

1. Drain Pipe / P-Trap
The U-shaped pipe is called the P-trap. It holds water to prevent sewer gases from coming up into your home. It can trap small debris, which is why sinks sometimes clog. If water is slow to drain, this is often the first place to check.

2. Shut-Off Valves
Usually two valves (one for hot, one for cold) sit under the sink. These control water flow to the faucet. Knowing where they are allows you to quickly stop water if a leak happens.

3. Water Supply Lines
Flexible hoses that connect the shut-off valves to your faucet. Check for signs of corrosion or leaks periodically. Replacing worn lines is inexpensive and prevents big problems later.

4. Garbage Disposal (if you have one)
Makes food waste easier to handle but needs care. Avoid putting grease, fibrous vegetables, or coffee grounds down the drain they can cause clogs.

5. Other Plumbing Connections
Some sinks have filters, water softeners, or dishwasher drains connected under the sink. Make sure connections are tight and look for leaks during your seasonal check.

From humble beginnings to where we are today. 💚

This first sticker was used by Alan Gehringer when he was running the business on his own under the name ‘Alan J. Gehringer Plumbing & Heating.’ The second? One of our most recent.

When people see a business that’s been around for 40 years, they often only see the success not the long days, hard work, sacrifice, and faith it took to get there. Every established business once started with humble beginnings and a dream to build something meaningful.

To our fellow small business owners: let this be your reminder not to give up. Running a business isn’t for the faint of heart, but being able to provide a needed service with quality workmanship and genuine care for our customers makes the journey worth it.
