Colby on cold bridges.

A cold bridge, what most people in the US call thermal bridging, is any element that runs continuously from the exterior into the interior without insulation at any point along the way. It carries the outside temperature in with it.

Code sets a minimum for where thermal breaks are required. Every other interruption in the envelope is a judgment call.

Insulate the floor. Insulate the walls. Insulate what you can.

Superstructure moves fast. A floor a week, then two. Every pour depends on approved shop drawings and correct sleeve locations; sometimes those decisions are made on the slab as it’s being poured. Getting the full team in one room is what keeps that pace from becoming a problem.
