Thank you to Bernard Whitman and Constantin Mitides for visitng BlueRock's New York office and speaking to BlueRockers about their experience with Parkinson's disease. Diagnosed with young-onset at 51, Bernard spoke to the very real challenges of the day-to-day and the need for research and innovative treatment options. It was incredibly motivating during Parkinson's Awareness Month to remind and ground ourselves in what people living with Parkinson's disease are experiencing and how we need to continue to work urgently to bring potential new treatments to patients.

There have been few advancements for treating Parkinson’s disease since the introduction of dopamine replacement therapies in the 1960s. A new approach—cell therapy—is now being studied in clinical trials for its ability to potentially replace the dopamine-producing cells that are lost due to the disease.
