Team Ionis is getting in support of HAE Day, an annual observance on May 16 to raise awareness of hereditary angioedema (HAE) worldwide.

HAE is a genetic characterized by unpredictable and potentially painful swelling of the skin, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, upper respiratory system, face and throat.

We’re proud to support HAE International (HAEi) with the goal of creating an environment for earlier and more accurate diagnosis to secure better quality of life for everyone with HAE.

After her first hospitalization with acute pancreatitis, Yajaira was not given clear guidance on managing her very high , known as severe hypertriglyceridemia ( ), or the importance of keeping her triglycerides below 500 mg/dL.

She recently found herself in the hospital once again, and this time, the experience was even more painful.

Looking back, she believes that having the right information earlier could have made a significant difference.

The other week, our Parent Network employee resource group (ERG) hosted Take Your Kid to Work Day, inviting ”junior Ions” to join us on-campus and remotely for an afternoon of science, creativity and fun. Participants learned about our work and were eager to conduct hands-on experiments like chromatography, serial dilutions and strawberry DNA extraction.

Thank you to our volunteers and Parent Network ERG members for encouraging curiosity and inspiring the next generation.
