Lane subsidiary, VSL Electrical, Signing, Lighting (VSL) has reinstated its Crew of the Month Program, recognizing crews that demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality in the field.

In April, VSL recognized crews from Southern Virginia (SOVA) and Northern Virginia (NOVA) for completing all required Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Briefs, and working incident-free throughout the month.

Lane joined Prince William County officials and project partners in early May for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road, marking the start of construction on a new interchange in eastern Prince William County, Virginia.

This transformational project will route Prince William Parkway under Minnieville Road, increasing capacity at a key intersection and improving mobility through a heavily traveled corridor. The interchange is also designed to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians while supporting future growth tied to the Quartz District, a planned mixed-use commercial and residential development near the intersection.

We’re proud to help modernize this critical corridor—delivering safer, more efficient connections for the community and supporting long-term regional growth.

Shoutout to our team on the ground, including Project Director Ignacio Valcarcel and Project Manager Andrea Roccasalvo, who represented Lane at the groundbreaking and participated in the ceremonial shovel turn.

We’re proud to share a major milestone for the Turnpike Mainline Widening from Minneola Interchange to O’Brien Road project in Central Florida—the opening of four additional lanes from Mile Post 278 to Mile Post 285, providing much-needed congestion relief. This achievement comes ahead of schedule, allowing for earlier-than-expected capacity to ease traffic flow and improve commuter experience.

Opening the additional lanes early improves safety, traffic flow, and reliability for drivers, while reinforcing our commitment to delivering high quality infrastructure projects on time. We’re grateful to Turnpike Leadership and our partners at the Florida Department of Transportation for recognizing the teamwork and collaboration that made this achievement possible. This milestone is a big step forward in easing traffic challenges for Florida residents.

In April, Lane’s Senior Business Development Manager Pat McGriff was a featured guest speaker at the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Purdue University. He addressed the junior class and introduced key topics, including an introduction to the design-build process and how to respond to a Request for Qualifications (RFQ).

This August, when the students return from their summer internships, they’ll begin a yearlong design build project, complete with Statement of Qualifications (SOQ), interviews, proposals, prices, and project ex*****on.

Pat’s efforts at Purdue are part of a larger focus to help prepare future builders with real-world insights that help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. Better-prepared graduates can make an immediate impact on day one of their careers.

USA - Pennsylvania

Steel City Tunnel Partners, an equal partnership between Lane and Brayman Construction Corporation, has been awarded a $1 billion contract to construct the Ohio River Tunnel.

The Ohio River Tunnel Project is a key component of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority’s (ALCOSAN) Clean Water Plan, a multi-billion-dollar program designed to significantly improve water quality throughout the Pennsylvania region.

Once complete, the system will capture and convey excess wet weather flows, reducing combined sewer overflows into regional waterways by approximately 7 billion gallons annually.

Last month, the I-20 Wateree Bridge Replacement project in Kershaw County, SC, reached a major milestone with the successful placement of the final girder on the Wateree River Bridge.

The milestone marks an important step forward for the project, which is helping replace aging bridge structures and improve safety and reliability along a critical interstate corridor. The achievement is especially meaningful as the team continues to deliver the project ahead of schedule and under budget.

To mark the moment, the project team held a beam topping ceremony and a cookout for the crews. The celebration honored both the progress of the structure and the people whose planning, coordination, and ex*****on made the milestone possible.
