Getting a firsthand look at the future!

Last Thursday, students, staff, and project stakeholders had the opportunity to tour our fully functioning classroom mock-up for the new Maury High School project, built right here in the Heartland warehouse. From layout and finishes to functionality and flow, the mock-up gives everyone a chance to experience the future classroom environment before construction is complete. Seeing the students explore the space, test out the classroom layout, and get excited about what’s to come made the experience even more rewarding for our team.

At Heartland Construction, we view construction as more than creating buildings; it’s about creating opportunity. The new Maury High School will be exactly that - a space built to foster opportunity, growth, and house future generations of Commodores.

Alongside the City of Norfolk and Norfolk Public Schools, and our partners at Work Program Architects and HBA Architecture & Interior Design, Inc., we were honored to mark the official groundbreaking of this long-anticipated project. What was once just a vision is now underway.

Surrounded by city and school leadership, our partners, students, staff, and members of the community, we gathered on the site of the future dining commons to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter for Maury High School. We are so proud to make this vision come to life.
