During Q1, we continued the internal interpretation of previously completed high-resolution Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, including visible near infrared (VNIR) and shortwave infrared (SWIR) datasets, originally processed by Dirt Exploration. This ongoing analysis is focused on refining our understanding of key hotspots and expanding our asset base across targets enriched in nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co). We look forward to sharing these promising results and outlining our next steps in the near future.

Our estimates suggest, Gunbuster’s closure puts 10% of Indonesia’s refined nickel exports at risk (which stood at 1.8 million tons in 2024)

Indonesia supplied 54% of global nickel supply in 2023, which is expected to increase to 60% by 2028, driven mostly by demand from stainless steel and electric vehicles.

PT Gunbuster Nickel Industry, a US$3 billion China-backed nickel smelter in Indonesia, has reportedly cut production and is at risk of shutting down.
