Since 1952 Fred M. Kemp built a reputation for designing and building exciting yet timeless homes. Each one was designed to fit the natural environment of the land, emphasizing indoor-outdoor relationships and continuing excitement long after a community was completed. Kemp’s legacy and passion for building continues with his son Bill Kemp.As a student, founder Fred M. Kemp was inspired by the architectural drawings hanging at Washington University’s School of Architecture, from which he graduated in 1950. He began to pursue his dream of applying his architecture principles to suburban home development and building well-designed, affordable housing throughout the St. Louis area. The history of home-building in St. Louis would not be complete without the enduring legacy of Fred M. A gifted architect, visionary, and past president of the St. Louis Home Builders Association, Fred M. Kemp was a nationally recognized leader in the industry. Kemp introduced many new concepts to the St. Louis community in the 10,000 homes he built since his start in 1952. This innovative home builder was the FIRST to design communities with private parks and swimming pool; the FIRST to market new homes with billboards, radio and television; the FIRST to plan for permanent broad open spaces, referred to as common ground within his communities; and the FIRST to build zero lot line homes. Many of these are considered standard practice in the industry today. The Legacy of Fred M. Kemp Continues

Today that legacy continues in The Kemp Homes Company with son Bill Kemp and Mark Teitelbaum as principals in the firm. Bill Kemp, armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on finance from St. Louis University, and the knowledge and expertise from years in the industry, proudly continues to maintain the same principles as his father: “No matter what price point, our customers will experience superb quality and attention to detail demonstrated through our selection of materials, architecturally correct designs and craftsmanship.”

Mark Teitelbaum, a veteran of more than four decades in private and municipal land use with an architectural background and a Master's Degree in Urban Planning, was hand-chosen by Fred M. Kemp, with whom he was a partner, to continue Kemp’s dream by conceiving and bringing to fruition a company that continued the heritage of the legendary home builder’s more than half-century-old mission of quality, innovation and value.
