Congratulations to the Bulkley Building renovation team, Berardi Architects and JG Johnson. We were part of the team which renovated and converted this building into another vital part of Playhouse Square. Friday night, we were awarded the Distinguished Restoration and Adaptive Use Award from the Cleveland Restoration Society and Cleveland Chapter AIA. Thank you for allowing us to be part of the team and this honor.

Our first shipping container recycle project is open for operation. We determined the structural adequacy of the containers to us as self-storage containers, found what environmental issues can occur when reusing shipping containers and obtained State of Ohio approval for reusing these shipping containers.

Almost one year ago, the concrete parapet of the Heights Medical Arts Building fell off the building. The pieces falling weighed as much as 3000 pounds. Miraculously no one was hurt. IALPE determined the parapet was never anchored to the building's structure. IALPE came in and evaluated the damage and the condition of the remaining parapet. IALPE decided all of the parapet needed to be removed and replaced, especially since below the parapets was a busy sidewalk and multiple stores. IALPE worked with the contractors to set up scaffolding to protect passerby and allow the restaurants to remain open. The the old parapet was removed and replaced with fiberglass-cement pieces made to match the original parapet. The project was successfully completed. Thanks to Sal Russo who agreed to restore the building's original design.

We just completed the replacement of the roof deck at the historic Pier W restaurant in Lakewood, Ohio. It is located on the shores of Lake Erie. The restaurant was designed to imitate a ship with the entry level as the deck of a ship. The deck consisted of a concrete topping, roofing membrane as a waterproofing layer and the structural deck. The restaurant was constructed in 1964 and after 61 years, the topping needed replacement. The replacement included a new waterproofing layer, scuppers and renovated handrails. RAM did a great job given the working restrictions due to the restaurant working hours. The project was completed in July 2025.

Riverrock, the last house to be personally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright has been completed. We are the structural engineers that made FLW's vision come true. With the help of the Owner/Contractor, Sarah Dykstra and Debbie Dyktra, and the architect's of record, Joe Myers and Rob Shearer, this project was completed successfully with no major issues. And when you look at the videos, there's no apparent sagging of the roof cantilevers.
