🧀 Happy National Cheese Day!

What better way to celebrate than by spotlighting our work on the Great Lakes Cheese Plant in Adams, NY?

Murnane was selected as Construction Manager for the $44 million expansion of the existing cheese and whey processing facility. From pre-construction through completion, our team provided budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering services to support a successful two-phase addition.

During construction, Murnane successfully managed the complex and massive structure with careful coordination of numerous subcontractors and process equipment suppliers. By working closely with the owner, parts of the plant were able to begin operations before final completion allowing the product to begin being produced.

We’re honored to have contributed to the growth of a facility that plays an important role in the dairy industry!

➡️ Take a look at these impressive photos capturing one of our most complex and carefully coordinated crane operations!

Murnane and Clark Rigging collaborated with Erie Mechanical and SUNY Upstate Medical University to set up 16 large pieces of equipment, one of the largest being 29,000lbs, at the SUNY Upstate DLAR Addition and Renovations project.

To avoid impacting hospital operations, all of the crane work was completed between 8:00PM and 3:30AM. Furthermore, Murnane needed to provide significant coordination with SUNY Upstate Medical and the adjacent VA hospital to facilitate the set up of a massive 500-ton crane across both hospital properties. 🏗️

Great work by the following Murnane team members involved:

• Mike Narolis

Take a look at one of our pull planning meetings in action – plus a sneak peek of the new conference room at our Clifton Park office! 👀

Our team recently came together to conduct a pull plan for the Clifton Park office renovation and addition project. These sessions are built around collaboration, bringing every stakeholder and team member to the table to actively contribute, coordinate, and take ownership of their role in the project’s success. 👷‍♂️☑️

For this project, we’re utilizing the traditional sticky note method to visually map out and sequence project activities. This hands-on approach helps our team align workflows and timelines, define key milestones, and proactively identify and remove constraints to ensure reliable ex*****on every step of the way. 👍

Yesterday morning, in recognition of Construction Safety Week, all Murnane project sites across every office participated in the nationwide OSHA Stand-Down to promote fall protection awareness.

Falls remain one of the leading causes of fatalities and life-altering injuries in the construction industry. The purpose of the stand-down is to pause work and bring project teams together to focus on the fall hazards we encounter, discuss how to mitigate those risks, and to reinforce the importance of keeping fall safety at the forefront of our minds before beginning any task on site. This stand-down also marked the official kickoff of Murnane’s 2026 Zero Fall Campaign.

For the stand-down, all project sites:

➜ Hosted toolbox talks focused on fall protection and the importance of the Zero Fall Campaign.
➜ Discussed real-world hazardous situations employees have observed throughout their careers, including causes, lessons learned, and solutions to prevent close calls.
➜ Reviewed the emergency rescue plans, including nearest hospital locations, emergency contact procedures, and first aid resources.
➜ Demonstrated the correct way to inspect and wear a safety harness.
➜ Inspected all fall protection equipment including harnesses, ladders, scaffolding and scaffold planks.

The momentum behind this initiative is powerful, and we are proud to stand together in our commitment to ensuring every person goes home safely each day.

Check out photos we took at some of our project sites! ➜

On April 9th, our team at the Schenectady High School renovation project uncovered something truly remarkable - a time capsule dating back to 1957. ⏳

During exterior wall demolition, carpenter Bill Dumais and mason Jim McKeever discovered a copper box hidden behind a stone marked “1957.” After opening it, they revealed a fascinating collection of more than 100 items including a class ring, newspaper clippings, school documents, photographs, notebooks, and textbooks. The findings collectively offered a glimpse into the lives of Schenectady students nearly 70 years ago. Shortly after finding the capsule, it was passed along to the school district for safe keeping.

What makes this discovery even more meaningful is what comes next. Students at Schenectady High School will create a new time capsule of their own, leaving behind a message and legacy for future generations. As district spokesperson Karen Corona shared with The Times Union, “It’s about our current students defining their own legacy and deciding what message they want to leave for generations of Schenectady students who will follow them 70 years from now.”

Murnane is honored to be a part of this special moment for the school district. 👏🏻

It’s National Library Week! 📚

At Murnane, we’ve had the privilege of renovating and constructing several libraries that serve as vital hubs for learning and connection. To celebrate, we’re highlighting one of our projects: the Bethlehem Middle School Library.

This renovation included a full ceiling replacement, new carpeting, an upgraded audio system, new bookcases and furniture, as well as the construction of a welcoming reception area, IT room, and a dedicated decompression space for students.

For us, construction goes beyond steel and concrete. It’s about creating environments where people can learn, connect, and grow. Libraries are among the most important spaces in any community, and we’re proud to help build and enhance places that inspire curiosity for generations to come. 📖
