We are hiring! We are looking for a Shop Assistant.

Position Overview:

As a Shop Assistant, you will be responsible for performing various tasks crucial to the smooth functioning of our construction projects. This includes jobsite deliveries, loading/unloading materials, maintaining cleanliness in the shop areas, and supporting our team with tool and material supply. The role involves a mix of local and out-of-town deliveries, loading trailers, safety checks, and assisting with various maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct jobsite deliveries and pickups, ensuring timely and accurate transportation of tools and materials.
2. Load and unload job trailers with tools and materials for upcoming projects.
3. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop areas, ensuring tools and materials are easily accessible.
4. Clean and wash trucks and equipment regularly to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
5. Perform safety checks on all equipment and tools, both before leaving the shop and upon return.
6. Assist with the tool tracking process to ensure proper inventory management.
7. Support building and property maintenance activities, including trash removal, power washing, and window cleaning.
8. Assist with winter snow removal when necessary.
9. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

We’re seeking an experienced Retail Fixture Traveling Superintendent to join our team and oversee commercial construction projects across multiple locations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to delivering quality work safely and efficiently.

• Primary Role: Physically assembles and installs retail fixtures (shelving, gondolas, display cases, cabinetry) according to store layouts and construction plans.
• Focus: Structural setup and alignment for safety, durability, and compliance with building codes.
• Skills Needed: Carpentry basics, ability to read blueprints, use of power tools, and adherence to OSHA standards.
• Timing: Usually involved during store openings, remodels, or major resets before merchandise is stocked.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Coordinate suppliers and field crews to maintain project schedules.
• Conduct daily site inspections and resolve issues promptly.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and field teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including schedules, reports, and job cost tracking.

Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and quality control.
• Ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, and suppliers effectively.
• Union enrollment eligibility
• Proficient in reading blueprints, scheduling, and job cost tracking.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for field and client interactions.
• Must travel as needed
• Familiarity with construction management software
• OSHA 30 certification (preferred).

Throughout his remarkable career, Jeff played a pivotal role in managing key customer relationships and overseeing our construction department, helping to shape Taylor Bros. into what it is today. His dedication, leadership, and passion have left an enduring legacy.
