The University of Michigan (UM) Solar Car Team recently visited the Ridgely Solar project in Tennessee and LRE’s Dallas headquarters during the team’s nationwide Solar Trek tour. LRE supports the next generation of clean energy innovators and engineers through its Silver sponsorship of Millennium, the solar powered car designed and engineered by University of Michigan students.

The 2,800 mile Solar Trek takes the team from Michigan to Los Angeles, visiting sponsors, schools, and university solar car teams to promote renewable energy education and hands on engineering outreach across the country.

Team Wind Force hit the road May 2–3 for the 2026 Bike MS: Round Up Ride. LRE employees joined thousands of cyclists in Fort Worth for a weekend of purpose, perseverance and community. The annual event supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and its mission to cure multiple sclerosis while empowering people affected by MS to live their best lives.

Eleven years ago, LRE employees alongside renewables industry professionals formed Team Wind Force to support the fight against MS. Since then, the team has raised nearly $400,000 to advance research and expand access to critical resources.

This year, the team continued that momentum by raising more than $85,000, with additional donations still being counted. Riders trained, raised funds, and showed up with determination, reflecting LRE’s culture of collaboration and commitment. Each mile brought the team closer to a shared goal: a world free of MS.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this year’s ride.

Clean power is creating meaningful impact in communities across the country. According to Clean Power Association, the industry generates over $6 billion annually in state and local taxes and landowner payments, supporting schools, infrastructure, and essential services nationwide.

At LRE, this is what we see every day. Energy infrastructure that strengthens local economies while delivering reliable, domestic power where it is needed most.

LRE employees came together to support the annual Sweetwater Rattlesnake Gravel Grind—a nationally recognized bike race held in Sweetwater, Texas, where LRE’s wind projects are located. 600 Riders, from the U.S., UK, and Belgium, braved the challenging West Texas landscape, cycling from 30 to 100 miles to raise funds for five volunteer fire departments in Nolan County.

Last year’s event generated over $60,000 for local fire departments thanks to community-driven efforts. Teams from Development, Operations, and Public Affairs at LRE coordinated sponsorships and operated an aid station 12 miles from the finish line, distributing water and bananas to those challenging the 100-degree heat. As Kristen Rosenberger from LRE said, “Supporting the communities where we work and live is a powerful reminder that meaningful impact comes from strong partnerships.”

Special thanks to Kenny Hope and Andy Limones, plant managers at Sweetwater Wind, for their ongoing dedication to the fire departments. LRE’s involvement energized the event, strengthened community ties, and showcased the values of partnership and service.

LRE employees are coming together throughout April to advance local environmental efforts by maintaining green spaces in Houston, contributing to public art in Chicago, and supporting community gardens in Phoenix.

In Dallas, volunteers served as Gallery Hosts at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, guiding families through interactive nature and science exhibits, assisting with educational displays, and helping maintain spaces that connect people with the environment.

These efforts are one of many ways Sustainability in All We Do comes to life, strengthening the communities where we operate.

LRE is committed to supporting agriculture and education, two priorities that matter most to our neighbors in Oklahoma. The LRE Foundation and many of our team members recently participated in the 2026 Oklahoma Youth Expo in Oklahoma City, the state’s largest youth event.

More than 7,000 4-H and FFA members showcased over 13,000 livestock and agricultural mechanics projects, competing for top honors such as Grand Champion.

The event highlights the next generation of leaders and creates meaningful opportunities for Oklahoma’s youth to grow, compete, and pursue their education in agriculture.

We are proud to support the students, families, and future of agriculture in Oklahoma.

Ely Valdez’s EVA Ranch and Solar project in San Antonio, Texas is agrivoltaics in action. 1,700 sheep graze beneath solar panels at LRE’s Horizon and Morrow Lake facilities.

This approach helps manage vegetation, reduces environmental impact, and provides a steady income stream for local ranching operations. It also promotes healthier soil and productive land use.

A clear example of energy production and agriculture working together.

When a major sponsor withdrew from the KidWind Sweetwater Challenge in Texas, LRE’s Sweetwater Wind facilities and the LRE Foundation stepped up to keep the event going. The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on STEM event where students build and showcase wind turbines and solar homes.

For the third year, the Challenge was held in Sweetwater, Texas, home to LRE’s Sweetwater Wind 1–5 projects. Plant Manager Andy Limones helped rally support across LRE, resulting in a timely donation.
“These students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions about wind energy and careers,” Andy shared. “I was proud to represent Sweetwater Wind and LRE.”

LRE is building meaningful local connections through volunteerism and partnerships in Madison County, Ohio, where our Big Plain Solar facility supports improvements to a key segment of the Ohio to Erie Trail.

The Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails (FMCPT), an all-volunteer nonprofit, maintains a 14-mile portion of the 326-mile trail that runs from Cincinnati to Cleveland. LRE and Big Plain Solar have supported FMCPT for years, including funding a 16-panel public art mural project painted on a former factory along the route. The murals have become a popular visitor stop and highlight local history, including one featuring solar energy.
