For more than a century, Ravinia Elementary School has been a cherished part of the Highland Park community. Today, this historic landmark has been transformed into a modern, student-centered learning environment designed to support the next generation of learners.

Wight partnered with North Shore School District 112 and the project team to thoughtfully renovate and expand the school, creating flexible learning environments, improving accessibility and safety, and integrating innovative sustainable systems, including a geothermal HVAC system that enhances comfort and building performance.

This remarkable transformation honors Ravinia's architectural legacy while creating a future-ready school built to serve students and families for decades to come.

Congratulations to North Shore School District 112, Gilbane Building, Trane, and the entire project team on this outstanding achievement and the project's recognition with an ENR Midwest Regional Best Projects Award of Merit in Sustainability.

Wight & Company was proud to participate in the Annual Back to School Celebration hosted by the DuPage Airport Authority , the City of West Chicago Government , and WGN TV. The event brought together students and families with a hands-on look at aviation, public safety, and future career opportunities.

We're excited to share the completion of major improvements at Herrick and O'Neill Middle Schools, creating modern, welcoming environments that will serve students for generations to come.

The projects include new learning spaces, enhanced safety and security measures, upgraded building systems, and renovated areas designed to support collaboration and student success. As Downers Grove Grade School District 58 transitions to a 6-8 middle school model, these schools are ready to support the next generation of learners.

At a school that's been serving Highland Park students since 1897, even a roof replacement can be about more than the roof.

As part of the Ravinia Elementary School renovation, Wight worked with North Shore School District 112 to address aging roofing materials while helping protect students, staff, and visitors from snow and ice shedding from the building's steep-sloped roof. The solution preserved the character of this historic landmark while improving safety and reducing long-term maintenance needs.

The DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center is featured in Flyway City: Architecture for a Flourishing Ecosystem at the Chicago Architecture Center.

The exhibit showcases innovative projects that help cities become safer for birds and more supportive of biodiversity. We're excited to see the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's recently completed project recognized for its bird-friendly design, including custom bird-safe copper screens and decorative bird-safe glass inspired by native Illinois foliage.
