Started in 1981 by Varn Philbrook, PE, Philbrook Construction Services, Inc. first offered professional engineering services while concurrently building custom homes and undertaking additions and remodeling projects. As the company grew, it began taking on light commercial projects which coincided well with professional commercial construction administration work. Varn’s bro
ther, Kelley Philbrook, joined the firm in 1991 to take on the Construction Supervision aspects of the business, supervising the construction work and overseeing in field coordination of the projects. Significant past projects include: a complete renovation of the iconic seaside resort at the Chatham Bars Inn, the refitting of the stained glass windows at the Greek Orthodox Church in Hyannis, and the installation of the elevator and HC restrooms for the Sturgis Library in Barnstable. Current projects include continued project management in support of the multi-million dollar construction and renovations to the Soundings Seaside Resort in Dennisport. Varn & Kell’s younger brother, Chris Philbrook, joined the business in 2015. The three brothers recognized the needs of a maturing Cape population and added a Property Services Division to round out their business. Re-named Philbrook Engineering & Construction Services Group (PECSG), Chris is leading the growth of this newly-formed division and expanding the company into property management, maintenance & repairs, seasonal services, and more.
