Wadsworth Construction Company, LLC (RLW) builds multi-million dollar projects throughout the Intermountain West for both the public and private sectors. Under their tenor the company has experienced exceptional growth and expanded into increasing larger and more complicated projects. These include design-build, Construction Management / General Contractor and traditional design-bid-build projects. In 2009, the company was purchased by Sterling Construction Company out of Houston, Texas. This strategic purchase allows for increased market share for all Sterling subsidiaries that includes Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Sterling is ranked 91 by the ENR Top 400 Contractors, 16 of the Top 20 Transportation Contractors and 15 of the Top 50 Domestic Contractor for 2010. Con and Tod continue to operate Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction and provide the continuity to maintain the growth and innovation for which the company is known. RLW’s success can be attributed to four underlying factors:

Cumulative growth of over 404% since 2001 by continually winning larger projects that entail innovative contracting and construction methods. Providing long-term career opportunities for all categories of employees. A client base comprised of repeat customers while adding new ones each year. Lifetime friendships of co-workers, and subconsultants and suppliers. Top management at RLW promotes a team environment and encourages input from all levels of staff and employees. This approach results in a dedicated and hardworking workforce that will pitch in to see a project completed successfully and on time. The lengthy tenure of many of key employees is not only a tribute to the company, but benefits the project owner when a seasoned team is building their project. Our entire company works as a team and takes great pride in our projects and the Ralph L. Quality is paramount on every project – no matter the size, scope or schedule. RLW instills and build quality at every level of the organization and their projects are recognized annually for it. The company operates on the notion that the next job is dependent on the current one. Quality is checked throughout the project, but more importantly, quality is a way of doing business from the bottom up.

Safety isn’t a box to check. It’s a commitment we make everyday. 🦺

Last week everyone on site gathered for a mass safety meeting covering trench shoring, one of the most important topics on any job site. Before work started, every person was at the job trailer, ready and focused. Because the best way to prevent an incident is to identify the risks before work starts. A few minutes of preparation can make all the difference.

Big things are happening in Bluffdale!

As the RLW/Stacy Witbeck Joint Venture Teams gear up for the first Culvert Box Push beneath active rail lines in the West, our crews have been hard at work.

To make it happen, crews are installing nearly 2 million pounds of steel and placing 5,000 cubic yards of concrete across 10 pours, all within a three-month timeframe.

Captured here is just a glimpse of the rebar installation and concrete placement, with this pour totaling 300 cubic yards.

Stay tuned as work progresses and the big push gets underway!

Lighter than water. Stronger than you’d think 🏗️

LCC (Lightweight Cellular Concrete) is one of the more unique processes happening on the RLW/WW Clyde Joint Venture 2100 North Project right now. Pumped from an on-site batch plant, it fills in behind the MSE walls in layers as they go up to support the bridge abutment. No aggregate, high air content, and honestly unlike anything you’d expect concrete to look like.

While RLW is best known for building bridges and transportation infrastructure throughout the Intermountain West, water resources have been part of our story for decades. RLW first began water resource work in the 80s and we've been helping build and improve critical water systems ever since.

From treatment plants and pump stations to storage tanks, distribution systems, and stormwater infrastructure, our crews build the facilities that support every stage of the water cycle.

These projects require careful planning, coordination, and ex*****on, often while existing facilities remain fully operational. That's where our experience makes the difference. With the people, equipment, and expertise to self-perform complex work, RLW delivers water infrastructure communities can depend on for years to come.
