I’ve been thoroughly occupied by another portion of this build so much that I have completely forgotten to share some of where the flatbed build is currently at!!!

The flat frame is complete and all welds are done, finished with a coat of flat black primer.
I’m going to flip this around and now it’s time to finally lay some sheets down!

I’m woeful to inform you all that it appears that the price of steel continues to go up and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Just in the last year I’ve seen quite the significant increase in prices from my supply and their supply and I cannot continue to operate as I once did anymore.

Truly unfortunate circumstance is the current state of industry at this time.

As much as I really do not want to I will have to adjust my prices to compensate for the rise of the price of steel.

This will be reflected upon future estimates as well as scheduled builds.

I truly hope prices go down soon, at least by next year. One of the main reasons I started this business was to offer decent prices for hand built off road / overland equipment but it seems that with the cost of nearly everything continuing to increase we’ve been entering a new baseline for what a “decent price” is.

Look who’s back!

The overland camping trailer I built for one of my absolute favorite clients Nick, was recently dropped off for some struts to ease the ride.

1/4 inch thick upper mounts, a 1/8 inch square tubing for the lower, and installed with grade 8 hardware.

The last 2 pictures show a bit more detail of the lower mounts and the space between the body/strut and wheel/strut. This was during the fitting process so the hardware there is not the grade 8 hardware it was finished with.

Additionally I’ve designed it to accommodate another set of struts if he chooses to soften up the ride a bit more in the future!

Custom flatbed mounts up and the frame is starting to take shape. Next I’ll be adding the cross rails for the surface sheet to lay on.

The last picture demonstrates the straight level of the frame. However, if at any point it does become uneven it can still be adjusted by lowering or raising the upright mounts.

The Chevy Express dual swing arm rear bumper build is now up on the channel!!

I am truly so excited about this build video as it features one of my most recent and most favorite builds.
In this video I go over the design for the bumper, the removal of the original bumper, a montage of the entire build process, the final installation, and an overview of the entire build.
You’ll find timestamps for different sections of the process in the comment section of the video but I’d highly recommend watching it from start to finish to really get a true feel for the entire build process!

Well now that I’ve fixed my shop roof and cleaned up a bit it I’m back and it feels nice to finally be back in my flow!!

Before any fabrication of the flatbed I was tasked with installing a new hitch for the truck as well as stiffening up the frame a bit more with some structural round tubing.

Now it’s time to get some mounts put up and a bed frame built.

Onward!!!!

Aftermath of the last big storm we had.

It looks as if something blasted out of my shop. Hahaha
Those did also used to be sky lights but they’ve now shattered into pieces and are completely open.

The shop is drenched and filthy now.
We’ve had a few storms since then and I’ve been slowly working on replacing the panels that have been destroyed so it no longer downpours in my shop.

I am grateful to have truly compassionate and supportive friends and family that have helped us with the paneling and my clients for the patience and grace during such a challenging time as this.

I hope to be done with this by the end of the week if the weather permits.

Then I’m back to fabrication!!
