This is an ONYX-4DC mounted on an ISO-LF 160 Fl**ge. The target is directly cooled for more efficient thermal transfer which allows for high power continuous operation in production applications. This cathode is also equipped with an adjustable flex assembly for uniformity tuning in a confocal arrangement, a pneumatic shutter for startup cleaning of the target surface, and a process gas inlet / cross-contamination shield to prevent deposition on adjacent targets.

Here is a Cylindrical Magnetron Sputtering Cathode running Aluminum Zinc Oxide (AZO). AZO is a low cost Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO). TCO materials are widely used in modern electronic devices because they exhibit high electrical conductivity, are transparent in the visible range, and have good chemical and thermal stability. ITO is the most widely used material for transparent conductive oxide (TCO) coatings. ONYX-4 Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) magnetron sputtering cathode running a Copper (Cu) test target in our applications lab. These UHV cathodes have all welded construction and demountable magnet arrays that allow the target to remain in vacuum while being baked out to 450 degrees centigrade. They are equipped standard with a faraday cage and can be run using both Radio Frequency (RF) and Direct Current (DC) power. Target sizes range from 1”/25mm to 10”/250mm diameter and insertion lengths can be customer specified.

ONYX-552 Dual Internal Mount Magnetron Sputtering Cathode. Dual Magnetron Sputtering (DMS) using a medium frequency or bi-polar pulsed power supply is a very effective way of depositing insulating thin films with minimal arcing and elimination of the disappearing anode effect. In this arrangement each magnetron acts alternatively as an anode and a cathode. Long runs with consistent stoichiometry, optimized homogeneity and desired optical properties are achievable. Reactive sputtering applications in large area glass coating systems which use oxides, including Silicon Dioxide (SiO2), Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) and Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) commonly use this technique.

Here are three ONYX-540 linear magnetron sputtering cathodes running Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) on an inline production sputtering system. These cathodes were designed with an Extreme Magnetic Field that achieves greater than 1000 gauss at the target surface. This allows the process to run at low pressures and low voltage minimizing defects caused by inclusions and arcing and it will also permit high power operation which is good for adhesion and film density.
