Exciting progress continues at 89 Elm Street in Portland!

This project will add much-needed residential and commercial space to the West Bayside neighborhood, and we’re proud to be working alongside joint partner Turner Construction Company, Marguerite Concrete Inc, and the many skilled trade partners helping move the project forward.

Awesome drone views showcasing the slab-on-grade work taking shape. Thanks to Savanna Media for capturing the progress from above.

PGC is proud to be supporting the 10 MW Fuel Cell and Thermal Loop project in Bridgeport, CT.

Developed by NuPower, the project includes 21 fuel cells and a thermal loop system that will provide electricity, domestic hot water, and space heating to nearby customers and educational facilities.

Built on a compact urban site of less than one acre, the project features vertically stacked fuel cells—a first-of-its-kind configuration in the U.S.

PGC’s role supports the installation and integration of the thermal loop and related mechanical systems, requiring tight coordination between construction, equipment, utilities, and ongoing site activity.

This is the kind of work we’re built for: complex systems, active environments, and disciplined ex*****on.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — an important time to highlight that safety in the construction industry goes beyond the physical. Creating a strong safety culture also means supporting mental health, checking in on one another, and making sure people know they are not alone.

On Saturday, PGC team members were proud to participate in and support the AGCMaine + AFSP Hike for Hope events in Westbrook and Bangor. The hikes brought Maine’s construction community together to raise awareness, encourage conversations, reduce stigma, and remind people that support is available.

One resource shared at the event was Hard Hat Courage, an AFSP initiative focused on construction-specific mental health and su***de prevention resources and education. We encourage our teams and industry partners to use this resource and continue the conversation on site: https://hardhatcourage.com/

At PGC, we believe safety means looking out for the whole person — physically and mentally. Thank you to AGC Maine, AFSP, and everyone who helped organize these meaningful events, along with all those helping advance conversations around mental health in our industry and communities.

Last week, teams across PGC took part in Construction Safety Week through jobsite stand-downs, trainings, and conversations focused on keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do.

As we reflect on the week, we’re carrying forward the stories shared, the lessons reinforced, and a renewed commitment to looking out for one another across our projects and offices.

We’re proud of the commitment shown by our teams and partners across every jobsite. Continuing to put safety first for the next 51 weeks of the year means planning ahead, staying focused, speaking up, and making sure every person goes home safely and in better condition than when they arrived.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shared experiences, led discussions, and helped reinforce the importance of continuously improving the culture of safety at PGC and across the industry.

We’re thrilled to announce that PGC is now an Official Partner of Portland Hearts of Pine!

Hearts of Pine has given Mainers something to rally around — bringing people together through soccer, community, and a shared love for this place we call home. As a Maine-based general contractor that values people and relationships above all else, we’re proud to support an organization that reflects that same sense of connection and helps strengthen Maine communities.

Looking forward to being a part of what’s building at Fort Fitzy. Up the Hearts! ❤️🌲⚽

A new view from above shows just how much progress is happening at 89 Elm Street, where two tower cranes are now defining the skyline in Portland’s West Bayside neighborhood.

Vertical progress is moving quickly, with 5th floor wall panels going up along the Lancaster Street side of the building and 3rd floor wall panels underway along the Oxford Street side as the structure rises across the site. Interior rough-ins for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing are also progressing throughout the building.

We appreciate the collaboration of our joint venture partner, Turner Construction Company, along with Avesta Housing and Reveler Development, as well as the hard work of our field staff and trade partners who continue to keep this project moving safely and efficiently.

It is an exciting stage for the build, and we are looking forward to what is ahead!

Construction Safety Week 2026 is here, and at PGC we’re all in—together!

This year’s theme, Recognize • Respond • Respect, reflects what safety means in practice across our teams and job sites every day.

We RECOGNIZE the high-energy, high-hazard work that comes with building in the field by staying alert, identifying risks early, and understanding the potential impact of the work taking place around us.
We RESPOND by planning ahead, putting the right controls in place before work begins, and speaking up when something changes or doesn’t feel right.
And we RESPECT every role, every person, and every life by creating a culture of safety where every voice is encouraged, heard, and valued.

For us, safety isn’t just about avoiding incidents or following rules—it’s about making sure every person on our projects goes home better than when they arrived. That commitment reflects who we are: a team that plans carefully, communicates openly, takes responsibility, and looks out for one another at every phase of a project.

Throughout the week, we’ll be hosting safety-focused events and activities across our job sites to reinforce these principles, learn from one another, and keep raising the bar for how we approach safety every day.

The Equality Commons project is nearing the home stretch, with siding going up on all sides and interior finish work well underway.

Working alongside Equality Community Center - ECC and Developers Collaborative, this project has taken shape within a tight footprint and active urban site. One of the more unique challenges has been maintaining safe, continuous access to the parking garage running directly through the building — something the team has successfully managed from day one.

A lot of credit goes to our field staff and trade partners for the coordination and effort it has taken to keep this job moving forward safely.

We are looking forward to bringing this one across the finish line this summer!

In just 29 days Hancock Lumber Company's new building component manufacturing facility in Oxford, Maine progressed from shovels in the ground to completed foundations.

Reaching this milestone required more than speed. It took strong partnership, clear communication, thoughtful coordination, a consistent commitment to safety, and a lean approach to construction every step of the way. We greatly appreciate Hancock Lumber’s trust and collaboration throughout this process and are proud to support a project that will expand their manufacturing capabilities in Maine.

We also want to recognize our field team, along with Shaw Brothers Construction and North Atlantic Concrete inc., for the focus, effort, and teamwork it took to deliver this phase successfully. This kind of progress is only possible when everyone is aligned and committed to the work.

With steel from Maine Metal Buildings now beginning to go up, we are excited to see the next phase of this project move ahead.
