Today, Wednesday, Feb. 18, we pause to remember and honor the lives of Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and Adam Finseth.

Their courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on their families, their departments, and their communities. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks our public safety professionals face each day in service to others.

This warm up has me thinking about spring time in Minnesota! But I know better, mother nature is just tricking us lol. We have had a few phone calls the past few days from people who are looking at taking advantage of getting on an early schedule. I made some appointments for next week. Lets talk jobsite prep work!!
Did you know that properly prepping the sub grade for concrete is the backbone of the concrete slab.
We live in a freeze thaw state. So pouring on black dirt or clay will not help your concrete slabs last.
Heres why, Poor Foundation Support: Black dirt is organic, compressible, and holds water, making it a poor, unstable base for concrete compared to gravel or compacted subgrade. The average amount of gravel we use per job can vary depending on job size. We dig out the dirt or clay, We use anywhere from 5 to 40 tons of gravel. Again depending on the job size. We compact it in lifts of 4 inches. So for every 4 inches of gravel we put down we compact it before adding more gravel on top of it. This ensures us that it wont settle in the years to come.
The other thing we do to make sure our concrete lasts is we use rebar every 2ft on center. This will ensure that the concrete will never separate, especially at the control joints.
We prep every job the same, so we can get the same outcome at every job!!! Taking pride in every job to achieve happiness in customers is our main goal. The awards we have gotten over the years proves that!!!
This is our process and it has worked wonders for us the past 15 years.

Just got some great news from Business Rate!!

Happy new year everyone. Thanks to our customers for a great 2025 concrete season.
