A few days ago, we created a post about the theft of property on a job-site in Quinwood, WV. The post was an attempt to identify the suspect in this photo. Someone came to me and identified the person as Larry Ayers, so the post said “we were told his name is Larry Ayers.” We did not accuse anyone until the suspect was identified by police and appropriate action was taken. We also believe everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, however, photographs of the act are generally indisputable evidence. We have discovered the person in the photo is not Larry Ayers, but his brother, Jamie. Jamie has said that he was only picking things up from the yard that he thought was trash or items to be thrown away. For the sake of not getting yourself into trouble, do not trespass on anyone’s property and take anything, including trash, without the homeowners permission or consent to take it. We apologize to Larry for the misidentification and associating him with this crime that was committed. Larry is welcome to reach out to us at anytime.

Well, we’re at it again! This property is definitely going to be a challenge. This home was purchased in a tax sale and a new owner wants to restore and rehabilitate into a functional and habitable home. This thing has been neglected for quite some time, and the squatters have taken everything from the boxes that were packed by the original owner, and have strewn it throughout the house. We’ll have a lot of drywall repair, complete electrical rewire with new 200 amp service entry, new plumbing, completely new kitchen with cabinets and countertops, new appliances throughout, and other repairs as needed. Considering the current condition of this one, we had to ask ourselves if we were up for the task. I’m pretty sure we can handle it, and this one is going to look amazing when we are finished. Excellent work by the Patriot team on this oddly triangular shaped deck. The old deck was demoed and this new deck constructed of 2X10 floor joists, double plated rim joists, a double plated center span girder, and the 6X6 posts placed into 30 in pier footings and encased in concrete to prevent ground contact and reducing the possibility of rot. Next up is this deck replacement and complete exterior siding, soffit, fascia, and continuous gutters. The deck is in disrepair and a hazard to walk on, so it’s long overdue to be replaced. The old 4 in. Vinyl Clapboard siding has been installed overtop of the old Masonite particleboard siding, that was called a hardboard siding, and was common in the 1970’s and into the early 1980’s. We are hoping there are no substrate issues once the vinyl is removed in order to make this a smooth install. This home will look a lot better when we wrap up the overhaul.
