Valley Electrical started as a family-owned business providing
electrical contracting services to the region’s many factories, production lines, steel mills and GMs new Lordstown, Ohio plant. By the mid-1990s, Valley had expanded into new markets, adding diverse capabilities and gaining experience, cultivating expertise and respect as it grew. Rex Ferry purchased the company in 1990. Ferry was bor
n and raised in Leavittsburg, Ohio and entered the electrical trade out of high school. Rex began working for Valley Electrical and moved up the ranks from Foreman to Project Manager. In 2001, VEC Systems Integrator was created to meet the low-voltage and information-technology demands of customers. 2003 saw the acquisition of Evets Electric, one of the largest specialty electrical contractors in the country focusing on the oil and gas industries; this provided Valley increased prominence in electrical contracting across a broader spectrum of construction sectors. In 2010, The J.L. Allen Company was acquired, expanding Valley’s capabilities to include mechanical and civil construction as well as fabrication. Over the next four years, revenues increased as Evets and J.L. Allen performed projects for several large natural gas companies, building relationships with the completion of each project. Evets completed construction of a new fabrication facility in the spring of 2014 in Hubbard, Ohio, offering clients a fabrication facility located in the middle of two major shale plays. In 2014, J.L. Allen was sold. As the construction industry began to change, Rex made the decision to merge Valley Electrical and Evets Electric (now Evets Oil & Gas Construction Services) into one entity, VEC, effective January 1, 2016. The move positions VEC as a total solutions provider to our clients across all industries and all disciplines. The merge also aligns with the company vision to Build for Generations to Come by positioning the company for sustainable growth that will allow VEC to remain in the industry for 40 more years ... and beyond.
